NO FORTUNE LEFT, BUT I'M DIGGING THE GLORY.

Post by Barry the Bounty Hunter »

Hi, all. I am new to the forum, and just wanted to share my recent experiences. I finally took the plunge last week and ordered the Akubra Fed IV Deluxe, and apparently the floodgates opened. I thought to myself, "I've always wanted a real leather, 8-foot whip in Indy style..." So I ordered one. And you can't have a whip and not have a leather whip holder for your belt, too. So I got one of those. I've also been buying "good enough," bags for the longest time, but tonight I found a genuine Mk VII that was being sold online. The best part is that they are pretty much new old-stock, and the seller custom-makes leather straps for them. So in the space of a few days, I caught Indy fever all over again and seriously upped my game. I had forgotten how good it feels to be consumed by this child-like wonderment. Think I'm gonna just ride this wave for a while. :whip:

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm really honored to be among like-minded people. Pictures will definitely be coming soon. The whip came in, but it had a defect (no wrist loop), so I'm in the process of an exchange. But the bag should be here this coming week, and aside from the Akubra, that's the piece I'm most excited about.

I know I'm a bit belated here, but welcome! Sounds like you're off to a great start! Congrats on the Akubra, it is an awesome hat for the money. My fedora collection has been expanding rapidly as of late, and for quality vs. value it is tops on my list. Your bag looks awesome! I love the detail on the snaps. Can't wait to see the whip! Cheers!
