Pre-Distressed Goat or Distress My Goat?

Thanks for all the responses about the action pleat; so much to learn.

When I placed my order at the end of October for a 44R Wested LC in brown goat, they were offering (and I thought of ordering) it in pre-distressed goat. Since receiving it and learning that it's going to be a very long time before it fades or shows any age, I was going to place an order for a custom Wested in pre-distressed goat but was just informed that they're no longer offering it (.

So the quandary is: acetone, alcohol, or another vendor?

Have you done your own weathering before?

Well, I'm hardly an expert. But following info found here on the forum, I lightly distressed my US Wings lightweight lamb jacket with alcohol and a soft cloth. I liked the way it came out -- I just wanted it to not look brand-new.

I looked at lots of images of the jackets from various movies to see where the weathering they did looked most natural, and used those as my guide.

But I quickly learned (before I wrecked the jacket) that a little alcohol goes a long way, and it's easy to get carried away and rub off too much of the finish without realizing it.

As I'm sure others suggested, to get a feel for what the alcohol does, maybe try first on parts of the jacket nobody will see, like the inside of the storm flap, inside leather near the zipper, or the underside of the pocket flaps.

If you don’t feel comfortable enough with that fact, I’d suggest selling that jacket and looking for another vendor.

We are making the leather now and will use the Indy Jones VINC Pattern We supply Walt Disney Corp of FL. We will also make the USN G-1 WW 11 Pattern with the same leather… Please post that these two jackets will be on our site in 90 days. Adding a new line is not an easy thing to do and a major investment on our part.
