Hey all,
I'm seriously looking at purchasing a Wested Hero Raiders jacket and was hoping that the Indygear gurus could provide some insight into the measurements to order. I have gone through some of the older threads and found some differing information. If there's a thread that already addresses this in detail, I apologize.
I currently have a OTR Wested Raiders jacket. I like the way the jacket fits, could be a little bit longer, but i like the sleeves as they fall just at the start of my thumb. I measured my OTR Raiders and the measurements are as follows:
Labeled a 46
Pit-to-pit is 25
Back is 26
Sleeve is 25
For the Hero jacket subtract an inch off the sleeve and backlength. Order your normal chestsize. It may feel a bit more snug around the arm/under the arm area, because the fit of the hero jacket is a different design in that regard to their easyfit OTR Raiders jacket design. Do measure your body though, rather than rely on what you think you are based on s,m,l, xl sizing that alot of people rely on these days.
I'm also debating between a Wested Hero jacket in shrunken lamb and a Magnoli Adventure white label. According to the Wested blog post comparing their "normal Raiders" vs the "Hero Raiders", the Hero jacket seems to sit longer on your body since the shoulders are wider so I suppose removing length from the arms and bottom sound about right.
All this sizing differences between jackets and companies has me so confused as to what to do....

Would you say the Hero jacket has more of a fitted motorcycle jacket fit in the chest, shoulders, and waist?

Ok, thanks for the reply!
It's tough trying to nail figure out the proper sizing and whether to order a customer Raiders Hero from Wested or a Raiders Adventure jacket WL from Magnoli. Both look pretty good so far...
If you order a magnoli jacket (which I think looks just as good as wested's hero) then you'll probably just have to give your exact measured sizing, arms, chest, back length.
Wested ROTLA jacket number 6 for me is a Shrunken Lamb Hero. Yep having to have the sleeves altered but I've loved every Wested I've owned. The Hero is a Keeper and great for moderate weather. (Not Nepal ;-)) But for a real honest cold weather adventure I rely on my lowly, unappreciated Disney original ( I think made by Cooper) Indiana Jones Jacket. That thing is heavy but indestructible! You could drag this one behind the pickup for miles and not phase it. The fit is good for off rack and has some room for a hoodie or sweater under.
My thoughts.
I have a 41” chest measurement and purchased a size 40 Wested hero about 4 years ago. I think at the time my chest was 40’ But it fits great.
I went with authentic lamb. I did give the measurements but relayed on there expertise.
I’ll post a pic once I get on a regular computer.
Never owned a Magnoli, nor will I, I’ve bought his shirts and there’s s so many requested measurements that it’d be easy to get it wrong, like the shirts I bought. That if there’s a issue you have to send it back.
Might want to look into S&J, he communicates with you all the way, and I’m happy with my ToD.
I just received my Raiders Hero in authentic lamb and I really couldn't be more pleased with it. I'm kind of at an in-between size at a 47, so I aired on the side of caution and went with a 48, sleeves and back both at 26.5. I'm 6'1 about 230 lbs. Jacket fits perfectly. Because of the cut of the Hero, I was a little nervous, but WOW. It is right on point with what I wanted: Adequate room in the shoulders (even if I wanted to wear a light sweater underneath), sleeves down to the knuckle, and drapes just below the belt. The folks at Wested could not have been nicer or more accommodating, and wait time with shipping was unbelievably fast.
