Hello all!
New member here. Looking for acquiring a new jacket to add to the collection in the next couple months, but would much prefer one that fits me best. From browsing the forums here seems everyone loves the Steele & Jones jackets, particularly the latest Last Crusade offering.
For comparison I have a few other US Wings jackets from over the years (Signature Series Vintage Cowhide & Legend Raiders Lambskin) but even in the small-medium sizes the arms are always too long for me. The Legend jacket has a nice back length I like at 25".
I'm 5'4", size 36 chest. Arm length is 20.5" to the wrist. The closest a Wested custom goes is 23" which I'm inclined to think would still mostly cover my hands. I understand the recommendation around here is to get a sleeve length that will take the cuff to just above the knuckles? So that would make the sleeve measurement about 21.5"-22". For jacket back length I like the 25" on the USW Legend. And given my 36" chest size, would it be advisable to go up to a 38" for a little room for a sweater?
All that being said, would a size 36/38, 22" sleeve length with 25" back length be a strange proportion for a custom Steele & Jones?
Also, I don't see any place on the Steele & Jones site referencing their Last Crusade or Temple of Doom jackets and their respective hide options. Am I correct in assuming you have to email them to request info on those?
And finally, what does the Steele & Jones pricing generally end up being for everyone? I assume it fluctuates based on hide choice.
Lots of questions here, thanks for reading. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Steele & Jones Questions
Have a look at mine. Steele and jones LC in horsehide. Love it. Would highly recommend and if I had a chance for a do over I wouldn’t change anything. I am about 5’3” here is my measurements. Fits like a glove meaning it fits me the way I like it to fit me. He did take 3/4” off sleeves at my request. material is still there so if I wanted dead on SA I could have it let out by a good Taylor. I can wear a sweater underneath but fits better without one which is how I wanted it.

Thanks for the chart Jeremiah! I shall keep those numbers in mind while I consider my measurements.

Re: Steele & Jones Questions
I would recommend you print out that size chart and go to a tailor to be measured. Just to be sure.
I've ordered two jackets from S&J and both fit like glove
I measured a well fitting jacket a number of times and measured myself ( with help) a few times to make sure i made no mistakes.

Dear friend!!!
Indiego @S&J here
I'll gladly reply to your questions:
Let us do the hard work.
We will ask measurements, and pictures. Based on that info, we'll show you the most suitable pattern measurements for you and your physical proportions.
And ALWAYS keeping the accurate structure and balance of the original patterns, on each style.
You will get the Indy jacket you want, made for your body (not Harrison's)
You should trust us on the jacket pattern setting. Trust me...
And yes. You should email us with your requests: pedidos@steele-jones.com.ar
We offer this Horsehide skin in 2 thickness:
Standard = 0.7 to 0.9 mm (Perfect for LC style. Very good for Raiders)
Thin = 0.5 to 0.7 mm (this version drapes, feels and weights like lambskin, but with the strenght of horsehide. Perfect for ToD and Raiders style)
NOTE:
Our Premium Horsehide skins are soft and pliable. And with the most distinctive and subtle grain on it.
Perfect chocolate color, and it distress light brown. Beautiful.
Honestly, the very best skin we have seen in the last 7 years. And we've seen A LOT.
It's the best at softness, touch, color, weight and drape. NOT like other vendors horsehides, which are stiff and heavy.
Price: USD 470.- (shippin included)
HOW TO ORDER:
We ask 50% deposit to process the order.
The rest once the jacket is ready for dispatch. Even if you need to pay in more installments, we have no problem at all.
PayPal and Credit cards accepted.
Cheers.-

There are no strange proportions, only correct or not correct.Ark101 wrote: All that being said, would a size 36/38, 22" sleeve length with 25" back length be a strange proportion for a custom Steele & Jones?

Our site needs an update. I know. The excuse is, we have zero time to do it. But we will....eventually.Ark101 wrote: Also, I don't see any place on the Steele & Jones site referencing their Last Crusade or Temple of Doom jackets and their respective hide options. Re: Steele & Jones Questions
Hi Diego,
Please can you eventually post some pictures of the premium horsehide choco color ?
Can this hide could be a good leather for a temple jacket ?
Thanks!

Re: Steele & Jones Questions
I would love to hear from those who have had the very first runs in this horsehide and who have worn their jackets a lot. How does this stand the test of time?
