hi

depends where they are snug. most all boots will loosen up with wear but if you're saying they are unbearably small then i'd get them replaced. if they are literally a little snug then you can get boot stretchers but they usually stretch front to back .. again if its the width you may be out of luck ... replace

I found mine were a bit tight across the toes when they arrived. I wore them around the house and on short walks to begin with to avoid any serious discomfort from prolonged active use. I also didn't pull the laces across the top of the foot tight. After about two or three weeks they were breaking in and although narrower across the toes than my other boots, they don't pinch or cause discomfort from rubbing. Good luck with yours mate, I hope they work out for you.

I've had them on all day and they're starting to loosen even after just today so, I'm very happy with them. I might try to wet them a bit with warm water and set a stretcher inside for when they're not on my feet.

As much as I truly love Wested Leather, nothing beats the comfort of genuine Alden Trubalance boots. :TOH:

I'm a firm believer in ”you get what you pay for” and at $500+, I reckon you get a whole lot. Lol

If you're going to keep them then you could daub them in some leather conditioner to soften them up and "waterproof " them. I don't know if you can buy it in the US but I give all my new boots three coats of a British car restoring liquid called Glyptone. It's designed for restoring old leather car seats and gently restores a bit of "give" to stiff leather. Glyptone G13 is the one to try if you can find it. Will ease them if they are just a bit snug.

If too narrow or too short then swap em out!

Mine were the same when I first got them last year, a little tight and rubbed a tad around the ankle area however, I wore them on a long weekend in Prague at Christmas and after the few days travelling they broke in just fine.

Now they are one of my most comfortable pair of boots.......well worth the price point.

Give them time, mine where so painful when I first go them, but after about three weeks of wearing them around the house, to the office, and while out shopping, they are starting to feel very comfortable. Be patient, and for heavens sake don't immerse them in water, as this will reduce the life span of the boot by half

Does anyone know when they'll reintroduce larger sizes? I'm around 12.5 and my Stormtrooper boots are 13.

Quick update: it’s been rainy here so I took the boots out to walk around, no stretching or submerging, they’re already a perfect fit. Thanks, everyone!

Just got my Alde- I mean, Westeds in. They are snug, but I'll try and sacrifice my feet's lives to get them broken into. We'll see what happens. I'm a college student right now, so discomfort ain't exactly on my high levels of to-do lists. Any advice of how I could treat them to loosen them up a bit? Also does anyone know the life span on these? Tbh, the stitching on the sides looks a touch cheap, which scares me in figuring out the quality of these boots.

Boot stretchers (good ones, that is) have adjustments for widening the forefoot area as well as stretching fore-and-aft. They're a bit pricey, though.
Moc-toe boots actually break in fast just from wearing. It's the stitching-- it gives more than a single piece of leather would, right where you need it. Maybe as you read this, the problem is going away. 8)
As noted above, there are leather dressings that will soften the leather and make it more pliable and stretchable.
But the cheapest fix: begin by wearing them with a snug but *thin* liner sock, with a lightweight sock on top of that. The liner prevents blisters, by letting the outer sock slide around without chafing your skin. If you do get "hot spots," do like any hiker-- use NewSkin or those awesome blister patches (Band Aid or Dr Scholl's) *before* you get a boo-boo.
As the boots stretch, increase the thickness of the socks to taste (not really) :-0
Avoid socks with bulky toe seams, or at least wear them inside-out.

Yeah already got some decent ones popped on my back heel. Hopefully I'll be able to break these puppies in. I'm pretty sure I got the right size. I have room in my toes, it's seriously just the heel that's pinching and rubbing. Now how am I supposed to break them in when I can't even wear them with the blisters?

Had some Clarke's chukkas with that problem: a stiff heel cup that dug into my Achilles. Being a 2-eyelet, they moved around more, making it worse. Took a rubber mallet and tenderized the back end, from the welt upwards. Be sure to remove them from you feet before you do this!
