New USW jacket on the horizon

Post by Michaelson »

The grapevine has it, and with David Hack's permission to share the news, we MAY get a Legend pattern russet horsehide Indy jacket before Christmas! \:D/

That's all I know about it, but we've been asking USW's to offer a horsehide jacket for literally decades (seriously!). Looks like we may finally get it! :M:

Dang it, I thought I was perfectly content with my roo Legend. If the horsehide is similar to a sample Sarge showed me several years ago I’ll be tempted indeed.

My understanding is that the Signature series has a little more length than the Legend series. Are there any other differences?

Right now we're pushing for the Legend pattern on this one. [-o<

To answer your question, though, in my experience, the Signature series has been a little longer on me than the Legend pattern.

The overall cut is a little roomier, too.

Russet is a brown with red undertones. You could do worse than google russet and see what's there. The precise balance or red tones will vary from treatment to treatment.

I thought I was done buying with the Steer Legend, then the Bison and now...
May have to stop in and check them out once the release is announced.

They're also making an A2 out of the same material, so you have a choice when they're released.

I'm thinking just before Christmas myself.

Yep-heard about this the other day myself. The russet horsehide looked comparable to the russet horsehide that you see on high-end historically accurate A2 jackets from the likes of Aero, Goodwear, Buzz Rickson, Gibson and Barnes...very similar.

I'm super-excited about this one, as M is right--we've been asking for this for YEARS, and I've always thought the Raiders jacket should've been horsehide for period authenticity.

Hoping Santa comes to my house!!!

Cheers!

Just heard they're hoping by Christmas, but no promises.

They're now on four week back order just on the VINC Indy Jacket due to a CBS News interview they did with David Hack last week.

What’s the acronym VINC ? I know it’s going to be something super obvious but I’m not piecing it together...I guess that doesn’t bode well for my Wheel of Fortune tryout.

It's the SKU for the Signature Series Vintage Cowhide Indy-Style Adventurer Jacket. I had to go to the USW website to figure that one out.

Just got an email from David Hack that the time frame for this new HH jacket is now Spring, as they were on track until the Fox News interview with him about USW's, and their orders jumped exponentially.

They're now trying to fill all the Christmas orders that suddenly poured in due to that report, and new projects have been put on the back burner until after the first of the year.

Disappointing news, but it's still on the schedule.

Nope. Last thing I heard about was the new goat skin jackets. :|

I'll ping them and see what the status is, or if this is DOA. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: David Hack says it's still on the table. A few other projects are in front of it, but it's not dead.

Now I hear there are TWO coming down the pipeline for pre-order.

A russet brown cowhide that's a 4 season jacket, and a large grained charcoal grey lambskin for folks who want something 'different'.

Both hides sourced from Italy.

They're going to do 100 a month of each until they run out of hide.

Should be in the $295 price range, but that's not 'official' pricing yet, so wait until it hits the website for confirmation.

They'll be taking pre-orders up to October 1st, and there should be an official announcement soon.

Stay tuned.

Come on, fella's. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean others won't. [-X

Apparently it's the rage in Italy right now, and moving across Europe.

Like I said above, it's something 'different' for those who'd like owning and wearing an Indy pattern other than small grained brown leather jackets. ;)

"Different" is good sometimes. As a matter of fact, my black G&B Expo is probably my most worn version of late.

Changing things up occasionally is good for the soul. ;)

It's a beautiful jacket.
I love this kind of skins. Lots of character.
Crispé Lambskin. I have a Wested in that skin, and I wear it very-very often.

Correct.
New/Old fashion. Also in ladies designs.

Congrats on a great offer.

Reminds me a bit of the much coveted striated hide that Tony Nowak was making back in 2009.

Here's Orb showing off his TN at the time:

Interesting how times and people's opinions change. This was THE thing EVERYONE was clammering for and Tony Nowak was delivering as fast as he could make them back then, and now folks are making jokes. :-k ;)

Oh, and Tony was selling these in the $800 to $1000 range too.

wow. didn't know that. ](*,)

haha.

no, thats what makes ordering things sometimes difficult. you see a pic of something you like and unfortunately unless the grain is artificial it will never look exactly like the one pictured which is ok, but can be a let down if you thought you were getting one just like it.
