Hey there everyone! Just got this thing. It's an officially licensed IJ fedora, so it's probably @#$%. But, for sheer looks, what do you think? Too big? Too small? I know the curve in the back isn't great, but I can't steam it (wrong material, afraid it'll just ruin it). Thanks for looking! http://imgur.com/a/EUiIi
Generally doesn't look too bad. It does have a natural tapered shape rather than being straight sided, but it's not too severe. The crown is a bit low but the brim is okay. If it fits then the size is okay. If it's wool, though, do not let it get wet because it won't take it at all.
Yeah, it's wool, but not a DP fedora. I agree about the tapered sides and height of the hat itself, but it does fit well, and I don't have ~$100 or more to get an actual GOOD hat.
It really has the cowboy flair of the DP hats. I had one and wore it quite often a few years back but I got lucky and found an 84 Stetson to upgrade to for about $30. I still have that one and use it from time to time. My DP hat ended up going to a very cute young lady!
There's nothing wrong with a cheapy. They can be great, as long as you are aware of their limitations (seems like you are). Even with a closet full of high end hats, I still pick up the occasional wool crusher and such.
The overall shape and dimensions seems to suit your face shape and build. If it fits comfortable, keep it and enjoy.
