Displaying indy lids

Post by Crazyc2314 »

I was just wondering how y'all display y'all's indy hats when y'all not wearing them. Just thought it would be interesting to see what y'all come up with I be posting pictures of mine soon.

Thanks and God bless

Short answer...I don't. :-k

I keep my hats boxed to keep them clean and in shape, and only have out the one I'm currently wearing on my hall tree.

I throw mine on a hat stand. I used to care more about keeping them clean and in shape. Now I just don't.

The way I see it, there are only two ways to display a hat;

1. In a museum.
2. On a person's head.

Evertthing else is just storage or keeping it handy.

On the noggin mostly. When showering or sleeping I lay it on its crown (upside down) to ensure the brim doesn't get warped. :TOH:

Some in their boxes but about 5 of them just on shelves in the closet or hanging on the hall tree. Don't really fuss over them much except to brush them every so many wears. Keep a brush at home and work.

Yeah I've been endlessly searching the internet for a nice wall mounted hat rack/display. There are tons for cowboy hats but all have horseshoes and stars on them. The only fedora nice wooden ones out there are vintage and hard to find.

I think Im going to buy 3 of these, paint them an antique brass and mount them in a row.

Could look nice when completed. I love staring at my hats when they aren't on my head so I want them displayed proudly ;)

I hang all of mine on hooks right by the front door. They make a nice display and easy to grab as I run out the door.

Check these out. Tons of very cool hooks. A bit expensive, but well worth it.
(FYI I own a Victorian house built in 1900, so these fit right in...)

I keep mine in Adventurebilt style hat boxes from http://www.sarahshatboxes.com/results.a ... HPv96.dpbs

except for 1 which I wear from time to time which stays on my Indy display.

and you did mention pictures, so

what you really don't see well is the Toht hanger holding up the authentic WWII German Officer Trenchcoat, The Aldens on the floor, or the S & W replica + holster hanging under the Raiders Jacket.

I'll second Sarahs Hat Boxes as top of the line. The "non-hat box" round boxes work just as well and come in many more colors. The only difference is the hat boxes have a string, which I never use anyway. I have coordinated my boxes to my hats so I know which one is which.

Indiana Jeff
