Indiana Gear Bag--Saddleback Leather

Post by ijq8 »

Saw this offering for an "Indiana" bag while browsing the Saddleback Leather website for the rich and famous:

http://www.saddlebackleather.com/indiana-gear-bag

This price point is completely insane

#-o Looks like a cool bag. But so does my genuine Mark VII. At a fraction of the price.

There are some really nice design ideas to the bag. Since I do leatherwork I was thinking it would be fun to take an original Mark VII bag and upgrade it with similar accents for far less.

I'd like to see that. Two of the features I like on the SBL bag is the leather pad on the shoulder strap and the leather on the back, which I think forms a pocket.

Yikes. There are about a million options out there for cool "Indiana Jones" bags in canvas, leather and combinations and for this price point you could own many.

That being said, the one design feature on this bag I really like is the pencil sleeve built into the flap.

Agreed! It really is an interesting variation of the 'Indy' bag.... and I would trust, due to the canvas they have chosen for this, that it would wear well for a long time, but a bit pricey! I too like the 'pencil sleeve'! W>

price is crazy.

I'd sooner get another Filson, glad I got mine when they were reasonable

These are the features,
  • Front: leather clasp
    Top: leather handle
    Top inside: leather pen holder
    Back: leather panel (pocket)
Sides: canvas strap, leather shoulder pad & metal clasps
I use my MK VII bag daily to carry my iPad Air.
I really like the front leather clasp because the buttons on my bag can at times be really tough to pull apart. Over time I can see the canvas around the buttons weakening.
The other feature I like is the canvas strap/shoulder pad. I think it would feel better over time.
