I guess you can shorten it's life depending on the skin and how hard you hit it. But with good care (Pecards) I see no problem with its remainig life.

This jacket from now on will be a show jacket so I am not to worry about it.

That jacket really looks amazing i have to say. Good job.
Is the cut any different to the LC arround the chest and regarding the armholes?

Thanks. :TOH:

Yes, a complete different cut. The LC jacket is a square boxy jacket with HUGE armholes whilst the Temple jacket is based on a suits jacket with high cut armholes and tight chest. My temple jacket is 100% 1:1 replica Ford size which equals a 42 and the fit is tight I must say. My LC (in the other thread) is a 44.

Btw, guys.

here is a comparison shot. :D

This GOT to be the same leather used on the temple jacket. See how the top shoulder sleeve crunches up. Its insane!

I think I've said this before regarding your Grail Diary... but this goes beyond replication into the realm of forgery. Bravo!

ahh, thats a good comparrison shot, thank you. How about the armmovement with that jacket. It looks like it is hard to put on but once you are in it there might be a lot of flexibility.

How is the movement in generel compared to your LC?

This transcends jacket forgery; this is a documented case of jacket reincarnation. :TOH:

P.S. - Magnoli makes the best Indy pants in the world today. I bet he can make an awesome pair of custom ToD trousers.

LOL. In fact, this was not listed anywhere.. Found it via a COW member that I consider a good friend of mine now!

Here is another picture. I'm pretty sure you think, dang, another one. yes! Another one.. :-

I have allways had this weird obsession with things I have a passion for. The Grail diary for one which is my main passion, second is the jacket. Especially the LC jacket. My passion is all about the details. People who know me know I am all about creating those little nuances. I love it. To me, that is what the INdy hobby has become. Is it healthy? absolutley not!! Trust me..really!

With the temple jacket, the distressing details are just as important as the jacket details if your going for the real look we see on screen. For instance, take a look at the flat temple collar, with the complete wear down and popped stitches it becoms INSTANT temple of doom.. and lets not forget those deep shoulder scuffs. :D

These are the details I try to achieve..

Image

And I cannot believe I said I was going to let this distress naturally.. Who am I kidding?

Oh darn, gonna hit it once again.

Been studying the screen jacket some more and the deep scuffs keep popping up on my screen.

Tutorial? Well, I tape 1 wire brush on my right my foot and a piece of sandpaper on the other and just ''Roadhouse'' it all day long.

I've always thought you had more of Harrison's Temple of Doom build... Fantastic, Holt. That is really the best overall Indy replica I've seen. I'm not a fan of the Temple gear in general, but that's amazing. :notworthy:

Hey,

thought I'd update this thread. I have been wearing the jacket on and of now and it just keeps getting better and better. Grain is popping up and it really starts to hang like the original jacket. The collar really has started to stiffen up and really looking like the original Check out the left hand collar lapel. The Demon roll has come naturally just like the original and the sleeves are just pure Doomer!

So glad I got this jacket.

Shown in BW for giggles and kicks..

I know what you mean, I am really fighting the urge for ordering another one in a different skin to see what kind of results I can get. So if I were you I would order a jacket. However, for me personally, I dont think I can get any closer to the original jacket then what I have done with this. I wantto try but it may be pointless getting a new one. In person it is absolutely mind boggling. It tricks me in to believing its the original. The key here is the distressing, there is no two ways around it. You can have the best Screen accurate jacket in the world and it still can look China made without the distressing detail. Anyhoo..Wested did extremely well, I would say this is one of the best jacket that ever came out of the barn. Knibs' distressed LC jacket also is very nice. I just wish they all came like this doom jacket so everybody can enjoy.

Thanks Mitch. Hows your Indy gear hanging these days? Long time no gear see!

Very nice Holt! Would you do it again for money?

Generally, the problem with making these jackets is the leather. Some leathers due to the way they are tanned are risky to distress because, although they may appear nice in photos, could be very bad looking and unwearable in real life. I hope that's not the case with Holt's jacket.

'Distressing' is nothing more than artificial wear and tear on ANY level or how 'light' you do it, so of course it will shorten the life of ANY garment or item over time.

So, short answer, 'yes', eventually, but it with proper care, it might outlast you, so I wouldn't worry too much about it .....unless you hit the thread at the seams....then you have whole different set of problems to worry about. ;)

Regards! Michaelson
