I have been meaning to do this for awhile, but wanted to post a quick review and photos of my new S&J Jacket.

First off, Diego is a pleasure to deal with and incredibly responsive to questions. He made sure I got exactly what I wanted. Things turned out better than I could have imagined and I would encourage anyone who wants a great jacket at a great price to get one from Steele & Jones. The fit is perfect, the craftsmanship is top notch, and the leather looks and feels great. I have a custom Raiders in SL from Wested and an older Cooper. This one is really the best.

Here are some photos:

That's my Penman Raiders hat (my baby). John Penman is the best, always hands on and communicative the whole way.

Diego from Steele and Jones set me up with that jacket, my god it was beautiful right out of the box with no distressing to be done by me. I wanted the lambskin and since I live in Florida I needed the lightest one anyway. Diego told me the cowhide is just as light but way sturdier and won't tear as easily as the lamb so that is what I went with.

As for the Penman hat; my gf went with me to the 'con and is not a big Indy fan (I forgive her) but mentioned one thing to me after having my picture taken and meeting other people. She said the hat is what made the difference. She said I could wear that hat with a different jacket and still look authentic, but a different hat with that jacket just would not look the same. Being an honest outsider I had to take her for her word.

Thought I would share.

Thank you for posting!

It was a challenging task to make your jacket.
Many custom specs, and still be able to keep all the Raiders nuances in it.

I'm so happy for you.
ENJOY THAT JACKET!
Cheers.-

A specific pattern for a 46 chest, and a 36 waist.
From that starting point, everything becomes custom.
Because I have to change many proportions/measurements on the pattern to fit those specs.
Such as sleeve tapering, pockets placement, collar lenght, etc, etc.
In order to keep the Raiders style jacket.

Like I'm getting used to do this kind of custom work... :-k

Diego was PIVOTAL in me getting the perfect jacket and that is no lie.
I tried Wested and had a bad time with the returns, US Wings and had to return again and was VERY hesitant about ordering overseas again. I cannot emphasize how great the order process was and the result is just beyond expectation.

I will second those sentiments. Diego will make the jacket with detailed measurements and stay in constant contact /communication with you.

You will not need to return a Steele and Jones because it does not fit correctly.

I own three Wested's, one US Wings and one Steele and Jones and the S&J fits better than anything I own.

Mine too! Had to get in my car and drive after the mailwoman (she sometimes doesn't ring the bell :x ). Perfect fit of course, made with beautiful merino leather. I recently upgraded quite a lot of gear, and am planning on taking pictures outdoors Friday.

No, but it was 99ºf and 85% humidity; killer! Its been in the hundreds since Friday. I'll take some home pics today or tomorrow, but my walls are 1.5" thick and there's no AC so I haven't been spending much time at home.

Looking forward to seeing the photos. I'm contemplating a S&J distressed LC jacket. Indiego has been very helpful with my questions so far. I have a Wested brown lamb custom Raiders jacket that I picked up at the shop while traveling to the U.K. last fall, and love it. I'm looking for a second one now, and am being drawn in... don't even want to think about a third one. Yet.

I can honestly say you should stop just contemplating a S&J distressed LC and place your order immediately. Aside from great leather to begin with, their distressing work is pure art. I need to get some pics up... It is fantastic.

I placed an order for a S&J LC jacket a few weeks ago, Diego was very helpful and answered my questions and concerns very quickly, I'm getting the chocolate premium cowhide. From the many photos I've seen here on COW they look GREAT. I can't wait! I'll definitely post photos and a review when I get the jacket. :whip: .....And the distressing looks perfect. Oh and I asked Diego for the 'off center pockets' just like the smithsonian jacket, I know many people may think that feature is ugly, but I just love all the quirks the LC jacket has lol.

Still way too hot to venture outdoors to hike to the secluded spot I like to take pics (and I don't have a yard), but here's a few preview pics from yesterday! Perfect colour, perfect fit. I've owned a lot of Indy jackets, but every time I pick up a Steele & Jones, I feel like I'm picking up and wearing THE jacket. Another one out of the park. :whip:

I have two Steele & Jones jackets ... A Cazadora 35 and 36. The 36 is the more recent one but i love both. Same leather on both the thin Cowhide. Both have been distressed the 35 more heavily for obvious reasons. The leather is amazingly light and cool to wear versus my both my current Westeds (TOD oil pulled Calfskin and Hero in standard lambskin) i have to say.

Theres still a bit of a shine on the 36 which another soaking in the shower and an application of Leather Balm seems to have taken off ..

Cant speak highly enough of the care and attention to customer AND jacket that Diego puts into these ... they are superb ..
