I have a new Fed IV standard that I'm trying to get some slight taper in but fortunately or unfortunately, these hats are so well made that I've had zero luck attempting to shrink mine. Does anyone know of a particular method other than wetting & heating I could use to get some instant taper on my crown?
Thanks
Brian
Depending on what ultimate look you are trying to achieve, you may be better off finding a new hat that is already tapered. Forcing the taper could cause the hat to shrink in all kinds of unpredictable ways and you may end up with a hat that is unwearable.

Put it in. Hot car and see what happens.
I'm trying to achieve something resembling Indy's hat in LC in the Castle, Airplane chase scenes. I think the HJ Poet would be the perfect choice to get that look because, it's the same block used for LC and they're notorious for tapering.

I agree. Artificial shrinking is asking for trouble. And once it gets started, even if it looks how you want, it may not stop. Either buy something else, or wear the Fed as-is until nature takes its course.
