Alternate Fedora
Hi Guys.
Am after some advice or for someone to point me in the right direction. I'm after an alternative and decent looking Fedora for an of overseas trip due in a couple of months. I've got an adventurebilt but feel I need a cheaper alternative to travel with in case the unthinkable happens. Any thoughts?

Re: Alternate Fedora
I would pick up an Advintage Adventurer Fedora. Not expensive and they will bash it however you want. I have one in my rotation and it has held up well. It is actually not floppy at all.
Akubra ones are cheap with the exchange rate but shipping can take awhile to Europe.

Re: Alternate Fedora
That is great and the Fed is a better fedora for the money. Shipping from down under to my US military base in Germany takes a very long time. Even US priority mail can take 2-4 weeks to arrive.teneas wrote:Teneas supports this message. I received mine within 1 week.BendingOak wrote:Get a fed 4

Come on. Take that adventurebuilt on an adventure. It's what they are built for after all.

Re: Alternate Fedora
A Federation would be a great choice as long as you understand it can't be rolled up and shoved in a suitcase. I travel with one of my Penmans all the time without incident. I understand worrying about losing something like an AB but as long as you don't forget it somewhere there isn't a lot that can happen. And they get better with use.

Re: Alternate Fedora
...Yeah. I know what your saying guys and I have been all over with my AB deluxe. Can't say that I never got into any scrapes though....and still got it.
Re: Alternate Fedora
I recently purchased a carbon gray fed 4. I can say without a doubt that all my custom hats have spoiled me. Fed 4 = good hat, custom = pure bliss.

Re: Alternate Fedora
I think I may have some full circle and am now thinking of taking my AB Dlx. I've had an akruba in the past n hoped they may have improved it..as they declined to put a dimensional cut in the brim for me. I just didn't settle with it.

Re: Alternate Fedora
On the Feds I have, I did not try to do an exact Indy bash. I like the fed for looking like an old school fedora vice trying for an accurate Indy look. I do have my share of Indy ones though. The general public will still think Indy when they see the feds as they associate most fedoras that way.
Some folks can get a very close Indy bash on them.
I wore my Northwest Indy fedora when I had to fly back to the States for a funeral. Trip going over was fine as there was plenty of room in the overheads. Trip back was completely different and I ended up with the fedora on my lap the big flight to Germany. Was sort of a pain. No room in overhead or under the seats.
Either way - glad you decided to go with your excellent current fedora.
