My Todd's Has a Tear...

Post by kozmoedave »

And I'm seriously bummed about it. I'm debating on getting another because I love mine, or going with another manufacturer this time around. Eventually I was going to get another from someone else anyway, but Todd's are awesome and so affordable, and I'm not exactly rolling in dough at the moment.

How bad is it? You might be able to get it repaired. Pictures?

I'd also like to see. How long did you have it? I've only just gotten a Todd's and now I'm starting to feel nervous. The only thing that ever tore on my eight year old goatskin Wested was bits of the lining, but never the leather. However, I know that lovely soft Todd's leather is a LOT lighter.

Kind of right where you'd expect it to be, I guess, at the bottom of the "hand warmer" pocket, just behind the front pocket. You actually can't see it unless the jacket's sitting a certain way. I would think, if such a thing is repairable at all, this would be because it's sort of hidden.

I really like this jacket and have worn it pretty much every day since September when I got it, even through a Michigan winter.

It's not going to do anything if you leave it alone...

but ig you want, you can open the lining and glue on a backing patch using liquid stitch or leather glue.

You don't think it'll tear more? This is the pocket I use the most (keys). I wondered about your suggestions. I have zero experience with clothing or leather repair.

Gadzooks, as I said, I love this jacket and don't regret the purchase for a second, tear or no tear. I've often considered buying a second one just to have it. And what happened with mine could just be a fluke. Lots of Todd's fans around here.

It's actually very easy. Been doing some repair work myself today.

Indy's jacket was full of holes anyways in all films. Especially around the pockets.

As Holt said, this is easily repairable. A patch and a little glue and you'll be good to go.

OR, what size is the jacket? I'll give you $50 for it (sorry, man, it's damaged!) :Plymouth:

Where's the best place to get a leather patch and whatever else I might need for this?

Get one of those leather repair kits they advertise for car seats and furniture. You can find them on Amazon. Worked great for a tear I had.

Come on down! We can hit Joc's Hanger bar in Orlando while you're here. In all seriousness, you might be able to find a local leather repair shop or heck, if you pay shipping I can patch and hide the damage for you. The important thing to do is reinforce it so it doesn't tear further.

Johnny, that would be a blast! Maybe someday...

Good call, Holt. Once I get supplies to do the repair, I'll see about that. I may be back with questions when I do.
