Re: Jacket Collection
Sorry about the bad pics.........
Wested is a mix of Horse, Cow, Lamb, and Goat. USW is all Cow, Goat, Lamb or Steer. Once I took all the pictures, was not able to exactly identify each skin for the picture. Time was short as the wife stepped out for a short period.

You should open up a jacket store.

Re: Jacket Collection
Nice jackets! I'll take the Wested in HH. It looks like relatively thin leather for a horse jacket.
What to do with so many jackets? Fire sale! You could make a leather quilt for your wife? Leather table cloth? New leather upholstery for the living room furniture?

Re: Jacket Collection
Yeah - I could but she does not like me buying more than one jacket. That is why my pictures were taken so fast when she stepped out to do lunch with her friends.....Texan Scott wrote:Nice jackets! I'll take the Wested in HH. It looks like relatively thin leather for a horse jacket.

Re: Jacket Collection
The Wested in Horse is a fine jacket. Not a dark brown but with a vest, plenty warm in very cold weather.

Re: Jacket Collection
I know the feeling. I used to have several jackets too.
Re: Jacket Collection
Those US Wings jackets near the end (jackets 16 & 17) look the best and really stand out to my eyes - the cut and those great pocket flaps. Are they the Legend pattern? They look like Tony Nowaks. I am very close to buying one....
Re: Jacket Collection
Beautiful collection! Pretty sure you might have more jackets than everyone else! My favourites of yours are the Wested horse, the cowhide and unknown Wings, and the S&J.

Re: Jacket Collection
wow.... for such a relatively new member you have a ton of jackets. I'm used to only seasoned members having so many, haha.
Great collection!!!! You need to wear those babies in and give them some character.

Those are the Legend pattern. One USA made and one import. The USW Signature jackets are way too baggy.CM wrote:Those US Wings jackets near the end (jackets 16 & 17) look the best and really stand out to my eyes - the cut and those great pocket flaps. Re: Jacket Collection
I have bought some of them used off EBay and a couple I am not sure of the leather used. The one unknown Wings was identified by Michaelson as a possible 90's medium weight lamb. It has a brownish to dark reddish hue depending on the light. I have another one from Wested that has a pebbly grain structure that was sort of grayish until I treated it and made it darker.Photoss wrote:Beautiful collection! Re: Jacket Collection
I do rotate them every week for the 3-seasons. I wore that horse jacket quite a bit last Winter but it still looks new. The horse and goats don't seem to show much if any wear and those are the ones I usually wear the most.backstagejack wrote:wow.... for such a relatively new member you have a ton of jackets. Re: Jacket Collection
This is just my personal observations from experiencing many Indy jackets over the last few years:
1. I liked most of the Wested jackets I have owned. Exception is the Shrunken Lambskin leather which I don't personally like. I also do not like the Hero Jacket fit but that is just a personal thing. I ordered a Raiders in Brown Lambtouch Hide that was very nice but 1/2 of the collar did not match the leather on the rest of the jacket. It was really out of place as it looked like a different kind of leather. When I first started buying from Wested, my first couple jackets were too small for my personal tastes in my normal size. Going up one size made all the difference in how I like my jackets to fit.
2. US Wings - really like the Legend pattern jackets. The couple Signature Series ones I have are cut way too wide in the sleeves and body. Their lower cost imports are excellent jackets in my opinion.
3. BK SL Jacket is good but still find myself not pulling it out of the closet as much as my others. I suppose that puts it lower on my list. Just my personal opinion, but I think this jacket is slightly overrated given the cost.
4. G&B in goat is an excellent jacket and one of my favorites.
5. S&J in Cow is another excellent jacket. Got it recently and look forward to wearing it when the temps get lower.
6. WPG Goatskin is a decent jacket for the price. I have worn mine quite a bit with the only issue being the sleeve lining can extend too far down.
7. Todds - Lining is slightly oversized on it as well. This jacket really had a bad chemical smell for months and still slightly stinks and makes my shirts smell after taking it off. Have left it hanging outside many days and the odor while not nearly as strong is still present. A shame as the leather on this jacket looks very nice but it will be donated eventually due to the smell. It is not a leather smell.
