Advintage Grey Clipper Fedora

Post by tedquinton »

I have always been fascinated by the 'Clipper' fedora. I think it was the mystery that surrounded it. Was it brown, grey? Ribbon colour, width etc?

There was also nothing available that looked right to my eyes. Charcoal was too dark, granite too light.

Then suddenly Thomas from Advintage had a smoke coloured felt that just looked spot on. At least to the DVD version of Raiders that I had. I just had to have one.

It arrived yesterday and in the flesh the felt is exactly the shade of grey I was hoping for, with the correct earthy undertones.

That's a great color!

The gray Henry hit the spot as far as my impression of screen accuracy, but this felt looks spot on as well!

Wonder where the felt is from? Portugal and Winchester, TN are the only sources I'm even aware of. Maybe some made in Asia?

Very nice. Congrats!

I've seen the fepsa rabbit but not the beaver. It must be awesome! It looks great in the pics. How long did it take to get it?

I think the wait was a couple of months, maybe a little less.

Yes it is, but great value. Even cheaper if you're outside Europe as you get roughly 20% sales tax off the price!

Wow! Very cool! Peters Brothers (at least used too, not sure now) offered (what Joe Jr.) called a 'Sea Plane Gray' version of their 'Indy' line that was very nice. I had one for many years until I gave it to one of my grandson's. Beautiful color and looked a great deal like this one. Nice catch! Looks great on you. NOW! Find a dark blue double breasted suit to go with it! Or, else :rolling: ! Truly...good find and purchase. Enjoy :TOH: ! W>

Really awesome lid, my friend! Could you provide some specs on it? Did you get the "Smoke-grey" or the "steel-grey"? What felt stiffness and are you happy with that choice? Also, any chance of a pic of the liner?

Thanks and congrats on finding your holy grail! Really great hat!

That is a fantastic hat! I think the color would go very well with one of my favorite grey suits, especially in winter. Could wear it to work without getting too many "why is he wearing a fedora" looks. Very nice!

That is a gorgeous hat! Thomas does amazing work! His customer service is top notch. He promptly answered all of my questions and did not try to persuade me to buy something I didn't want. I will own one of his Clippers before too long. I highly recommend him. Nice pics of the hat on the head as well!
