Name Those Hats
It's been awhile since this game has been played on here.
Here are pictures of 4 hats made by 3 different makers. That's right- 4 hats, 3 makers.
Can you guess who made which hats? And which 2 are from the same maker?

Re: Name Those Hats
I have a couple of ideas, but truthfully, at the moment, I am too tired to truly discriminate between the selections, but I will say this -- great shots! Seriously -- great idea of placing them against the 'snow-covered' backing! They are all beautiful! Now...give me a bit of rest and I think I can probably figure this puzzle out. Really great line up ! Superb 'photo-op!' W>

Re: Name Those Hats
So far, I think....first pic, L to R: Penman Raiders, ABD.
There could be a Garrison in the mix, one of the last two, maybe the last one.
Although 1st and 4th have a very similar block shape, could be the same maker.

I'm surprised there aren't more guesses. These games used to be pretty popular.

Re: Name Those Hats
I agree with texan scott that the first two hats are penman raiders, and ABD.
my guess is that the second two are garrison raiders, and AB raiders.

Re: Name Those Hats
I don't understand all the subtle nuances that many on here seem to recognise, but I must say they all look like great hats. If I was given the choice of which one I could have, I'd go for the one on the extreme left. I love that front pinch, it screams Raiders.

I think it goes like this.
On the left is a Penman Raiders then a ABD. Third is a Garrison and finally another Penman.

Re: Name Those Hats
I think you are probably right, Erik. The overall crown shape of the 1st and 4th ones are very similar, and that is what made me think they were made by the same guy, Johnnie Pennyfart Thing.
The third one could be a Garrison.

Re: Name Those Hats
I'm hung up on #3.
I agree that #1 and # 4 are Penman and #2 has Adventurbilt written all over it.
But the brim on #3 looks wide to be a Garrison, so I don't know.

Re: Name Those Hats
Here's the deal...the third one's felt is a different color than the others, like what Christy's used to call "cork". Could this be a re-blocked HJ..?

Re: Name Those Hats
The third one could just be the oldest one. My oldest Penman started out dark and over 4 years has lightened to about that color.

Re: Name Those Hats
Think number 3 is a northwest? Ribbon looks black. I thought penman and adventurebilt only had the indy ribbon which is why i thought 3 was a garrison. 4 could be an regular adventurebilt but i went with a penman as he said from the same maker, not same company but different guys. Buggin me now as to what it is haha.

If you look at the ribbon and how its tacked on it will help you figure out who made what.

Either your eyes or your computer screen is way better than mine. I can't make out that detail on any of them.BendingOak wrote: Back on subject. If you look at the ribbon and how its tacked on it will help you figure out who made what.
Re: Name Those Hats
Okay guys- here is a pretty big hint: the two hats made by the same person are sitting next to each other.

Re: Name Those Hats
OK, I just cleaned out all the ribbon talk that was not related to identifying Nick's hats.
There's already threads out there discussing ribbon. Or feel free to start a new one if there is a need.

Indiana Jeff
