Authentic Brown Versus Dark Brown....Color

Does anyone have any good pics of the comparison between the Wested Authentic Brown color and the dark brown color??

No. I don't have pics i'm afraid but I can tell you that the authentic brown is just what you see on screen, the dark brown is more reddy and, well, darker - I actually prefer it as an everyday jacket colour. The difference isn't immense, but it is noticable to the seasoned observer.

I call the new leather 'smokey' brown because it looks kinda weird, but as pointed out above, it's exactly what you see on screen and looks more so when you distress it. Check out Rabittooths distressing job. Very nice.
The older brown is quite a bit darker, almost a black at a distance. I like them both.

I took some pictures of the samples I got from Wested. The samples are on top of my dark brown goat. The lighting is a little different in each pic, and flash was used. The black is included to give a reference.

Top Row: black lamb, dark brown lamb, authentic lamb
Bottom row: black cow, dark brown goat, authentic goat

Top Row: authentic brown lamb, dark brown lamb
Bottom row: authentic brown goat, dark brown goat

I think the flash increases the contrast between the dark brown and authentic colors. But the pictures should give you a general idea.
If the dard brown is coffee colored, then the authentic would be coffee with a LITTLE bit of cream.

I would describe the color differences as the the difference between milk chocolate and dark chocolate...

I think lighting definitely has a big effect on the authentic brown. Actually, if you look at the scene in Raiders where Indy is looking at the idol & & taking out the sand, the angle of the lighting actually makes one half of his jacket look dark & the other half look "authentic." Also, you can see on the bonus DVD that while the jacket may look dark in many scenes in the film, it looks to be the "authentic" color in most of the bonus clips that didn't have any lighting alterations.
