How to find wool Indy-like pants with a modern fit

Post by solbergg »

Hey, guys.

I've started looking into getting a pair of Indy-like pants. I'm not concerned about perfect screen accuracy, but instead want a get a comfortable pair of pants that I can wear in regular life. I really like the look of the cavalry wool material, but the baggy 1940's fit of the Indy pants doesn't really suit my style. Does anyone know of a good retailer to purchase similar quality wool pants with a modern fit? I tried doing a little bit of searching and came across these:

http://www.woolrich.com/woolrich/browse ... cSale=true

and these:

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/35307?pa ... t&subrnd=0

They are not a great match, but a step in the right direction anyway.

Thanks!

Are you looking for pleated or non-pleated pants? A more modern fit would be no pleats. the LLbean ones have no pleat (I think). the other link isn't working for me for some reason. I too am looking for a modern non pleated wool twill pair of pants. You can see the fit online but the material not so much.

Yes, they do offer the same pants with no pleat. Look closely at their sizing options, so as to get the ones that will work for you. I like mine baggy (of coarse, I am older too), but this is also my preference, because I like 'older-style' looks to present day. I do have slacks that are very slim with not pleats, etc. that look fine on me, as I have somehow been availed the lack of excess body weight in the past few years, but I still prefer the older style-types -- just feel at 'home' with said. But, the point here is, yes there are trousers available that would work to meet the requirements addressed here and still have 'that' Indy-vibe, if you will. W>

Vintage or reproduction officer 'pinks' would give you Calvary wool without the bagginess.

They make my favorite Indy Shirt so I would imagine these "pinks" would be top notch.
