My whip cracken days are ahead of me now.

Post by Indiana Croft »

I think this is my very first post on this part of the forum. I've had a whip now for some time, but it was mostly for show and to toss out there while taking pic's.
But I recently got my hands on a Whip cracking made easy part I. And I'm cracking the whip and having a blast, I actually can't wait to crack it, I'm still far away to even calling my self adept at it, but I'm having fun. Now that I've watched the DVD several time I can see were I was going so wrong in trying to get the CRACK !!!!
Well the other day, the fall broke right at the end of the whip. #-o But after a few moments I came upon this U-tube video from another thread about repairs in the LA area. The short but informative clip helped me to repair my whip, put on a ne cracker and just a while ago........ CRACK, yes, I'm back in action.
I'm going to have the misses video tape so I can see what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong.

This is a relaxing hobby. Thank you.
Btw, for future reference, here is a video showing the easy way to change a fall on a whip without having to undo the fall hitches:

Thanks Mr. fifthchamber. Just came in from some whip cracking, and funny thing, I'm right handed but when I do a particular crack with my left hand, it's louder. The one where you twirl it around your head and then reverse direction. Anybody else experience that or is it pretty common. :-k

Hmmm, I do have a vacation to schedule and when I do this is a very good possibility my friend as I'm very interested in learning more.

Indiana Croft,

One thing I've noticed for me when learning to do different cracks is that my RIGHT hand learns faster, however my LEFT hand once it finally figures it out learns it better.

I don't know why, my guess is my brain has to work harder on learning it with my non-dominate hand, so when it all finally clicks my brain has paid more attention to the left hand. I noticed this a long time ago and I made a video talking about and demonstrating this, and I think I put it up on my blog (http://bullwhips.org). However that would have been a few years ago, so you'll have to search for it, however I don't remember if it actually made it to the blog.

Louie

I've found that to be the case with a lot of cracks as well, Louie! It's really cool in a strange way how that happens.
