An incredible visit from Todd Rex and Michelle Nyree!

Post by midwestwhips »

Todd and Michelle came out for a visit a couple of weeks ago, and we had an incredibly fun time cracking whips at the local park, and taking a short trip north to the Rhyolite Ghost Town. We had a great time, and took a ton of photos. It is such a cool place, and I thought you all might enjoy seeing a few of them.

Here we are posing at the ruins of the bank:

And a panorama of Todd, who climbed up on one of the bank pillars (Click on the photo to see the larger size):

We also played around a bit for an hour before they headed home with "targeting around a corner" or "Blind Targeting" where you can't see a target, but you manipulate the whip in mid crack to change it's cracking direction:

We love whipcracking!

Great photos, Paul! I especially love that panoramic shot of Trex. Blind targeting looks awesome and like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing. :TOH:

This is a GREAT shot!
Were you trying to do that, or did the 'heart' shape just show up on its own?

Thanks everyone!

Todd is an incredibly brave climber! I tried to get up on the other pillar but when I got to the top and felt the wind I thought a trip to the hospital would take away from my ability to make whips for a little while so I decided to play it safe. :whip:

@Kwad, the heart shape whip thing was completely Lauren's idea. She told us where to stand and what to do, and the whole time we didn't have a clue as to why until we got back and saw the photos, it was awesome!

@darthjones, sounds like we just missed each other! If you are ever down that way again we are a little south of there on HWY 160 if you ever want to meet up to see the shop and do a little whipcracking. Jorgen was just in Rhyolite for a family trip a few days after we were up there too.
