Options for indy jacket for XS person

Post by applefoodstuffs »

I've been looking for an indy jacket and it seems that my best bet would be to go for kids version in XL, has any smaller person (XS in most brand clothing) been able to find a jacket that fits. I have a US wings Signature USA goat in XS coming in but I've read that the XS is really a normal small or medium. Wested said the smallest custom size they do is 36, which is a small. The kids size may work and it is cheaper. Does anyone have the US wings in XS?

My stats:
130 lbs
5'4"
35" chest

measurements from a well fitting jacket
pit to pit 18.5 - 19"
shoulder to shoulder 18"
sleeve 23" from shoulder seam to end

I'd recommend calling US Wings and talking to them. In fact, you might see if they will hold your order if it has not already shipped. Rita has been very helpful to me in the past, even taking the time to measure a large and medium jacket for me in the sleeves and length to help me get the right size. Good luck and post your follow up. :TOH:

I'm not a million miles away from your size... Have a larger chest. Also wear 23 sleeves.

Have a chat with Peter at Wested and show him those measurements. He can make a custom to that I'm sure.

If that Wings jacket doesn't work out, go with Wested. They can customize any size you need.

I've asked about this and the response given was 36 was the smallest size they could do and they suggested a kids size.

With a 35 inch chest, a 36 would be the size to get. From my experience, Wings jackets run on the side of humongous. Armholes bigger than your head. Lengths down to your knees. Collars wide enough to serve dinner on. Pockets large enough to fit an LP record. And the sleeves run... short? :-k

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but if you have a small frame, Wings probably isn't the best choice. Maybe your XS will prove me wrong. Let us know.

What about Magnoli? He custom makes practically from scratch...straight off of your measurements.

The jacket came in today, from what i was hearing, I was expecting a huge jacket. The measurements are in line with XS. This is the USA signature goatskin.
Measurements:
Arm pit to pit: 19"
Shoulder to shoulder 18"
Sleeve 24 1/2"
length 26 1/2"

I'm pretty happy with it, and for $250 I think it was a good deal. The collar seems to have flattened during shipment/storage, does anyone know how to make it stand back up more? Not sure if the pictures are formatted correctly for the forum...

Those measurements seem good, although the body length seems too long. I copy and pasted your images into my address bar, but the pics look tiny, like postage stamps. Maybe try again.

The flat collar is normal with Wings' jackets. What I've done with mine is gently wet down the collar on both sides until the water has penetrated the hide. Then curl/bend/shape/mangle it in your hands while wearing it. I suggest doing it in front of a mirror so you get the right look and lift of the collar for a better height. After you get it to look the way you like take the jacket off and put it on a hanger to dry overnight being careful to make sure the new design you've created is laying correctly on the hanger. Make sure you stop by every now and then to readjust it as it will probably slip or fall from your sculpted design. Once the collar dries it should keep that shape, or one close to it, forever.

Best of luck and congrats on the new jacket!

I've got an old Raiders Wested in 34... I wear a 35 now and I'm about your weight but a little taller. I can check if it still fits if you want and double check the measurements versus yours below. If you want it, I'm happy to sell it to you! I've been saving it for a long time for no reason!

Is this the kids size 34 found here?

I am a bit wary since the length is so short 24" is where my hips/belt would be and i like it to be a couple of inches below. But let me know what your measurements are and price. and if you have pics, not sure if I could justify getting another jacket, but let me know, thanks

The pics may be small due to the size your picture hosting site is set for importing them. That can be adjusted.

How about a pic of the jacket being worn? That's going to say much more about sizing and fit than the jacket on a bed! ;)

sleeves need shortened a bit, I'll post some fit pics when i get it fixed
