New Heels for Aldens?

Post by starks_6 »

I'm hoping someone can answer this for me!

After 4 years of use (wear them everywhere except work) my first run AB Aldens really need the heels replacing.

Being in Australia I was a little unsure about sending them across the pond to Aldens to have the heels done. I love the things to death and would hate to have anything happen to them in transit, such as go missing as I have had happen with packages in the past.

I thought I would try the local shoe repairers. After trying a few different reasonably local vendors turns out no one can match the heels. One cobbler even showing me the many strips of heel rubber they keep there, none thick enough to match.

So I guess my question is does anyone know of an online source I can purchase replacement heels from to have fitted or do I have to send them away?

Do Alden sell replacement heels/soles for this kind of contingency?

They do, and many times will just send them to you when asked (depends on who receives the request in customer service at the factor  )....but a local cobbler who knows his craft can replace them for you and re-create the correct 's' curve of the Tru-balance heel with one of their own blanks.

It's done all the time.

Thanks for that. I'll try a few more places that aren't so local and failing that will contact Aldens.
I'm just glad to know it can be sorted :TOH:
