Show us your Indy Suits!
We have some members with some great Indy suits on here that I've seen at summits, pictures of summits, and just pictures on here. So, let's see them together here, whether a great tailored suit by Magnoli or a sharp-looking close-enough, to anything in between.
Here's my collection so far, with just a few brief reflections:
Raiders Washington/China Clipper Suit
Hat: Penman CS Train Traveler
Tie: Magnoli Washington Tie
Although single-breasted instead of the correct double-breasted, the pinstripe navy suit with the correct tie and a gray Indy fedora is still a good-looking "close-enough."
Temple of Doom Pankot Palace Outfit
Tie: Magnoli Pankot Bow Tie
I'll put up a better picture soon, to show the pants, right shirt, etc.
Last Crusade College Suit
Hat: AB CS Fedora
This shirt is a rather close match to that of the movie, and the blue pin-stripes bring out the blue within the bow tie.
Last Crusade Venice Pier Suit
Hat: AB CS Fedora
Tie: Magnoli Venice Tie
This is the same suit as above, minus the vest. While the suit is a 3-button, the color looks very close--particularly with the Magnoli tie and the light blue dress shirt.
Crystal Scull Train Travel outfit
Hat: Penman CS Train Tavel
Bag: Duluth Trading Co. Leather "AWOL Bag"
The Dockers, shirt, and tie are fairly generic here, with a light-brown jacket that has almost a grayish look to it, evocative of that in the film.
Post 'em if you got 'em!
Best wishes,
Nebraska S.

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Nice stuff!
Most of my "character suits" are based on supporting characters, but not all. I already have some good items for the CS Train station look, but I haven't worn it all together yet. However, I recently tried a Last Crusade College suit. The color is a bit dark, and it's not the exact suit, but... it IS a Magnoli. Topped it off with a Penman LC and the lensless frames of my first pair of reading glasses.
I don't think Canyon has this shot in her collection, so hopefully she won't mind - this is her Pankot Palace look, complete with the Magnoli tie.

Sharp-looking suits, gents (and lady)! Thanks for sharing!
Jeff, you're lookin' sharp in both that tux and the Pankot Palace look! Bow ties suit you. Pyramid Blaster's take on the Pankot outfit suits him quite well--I like the color of the shirt and the look of that jacket.
Chewie, that's a great looking suit and an excellent bow tie--topped with an excellent LC fedora! With the glasses and umbrella, you wear it very well! I also like Canyon's take on the Pankot Palace outfit.
Bond, you've got the sharpest-looking Henry Jones, Sr., look since Sean Connery himself!
Keep 'em coming, folks!
Best wishes,
Nebraska S.

PB, yes we did!
Thanks, NES My Bride keeps telling me I should get more bow ties. I plan to, but I wear ties so rarely as it is I don't have that much insentive to shop.
Chewie, looking sharp! Which Mags suit is that? Canyon, as always, represents well.
Bond, your Dr. Jones Sr. is my favorite I have seen.

Indiana Jeff

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Jeff - that's the "Princeton Tweed" but it isn't made from tweed. I went with what I think is a worsted wool instead.
Bond - I love that Henry suit. I'm curious, what color did you go with for the bow tie?
My other character suits...
Kasim (Brother of the Cruciform Sword)
Sallah in Cairo
Toht
Last Crusade Sallah... with company (photo property of Twilek Jedi)

And The Man in the Panama Hat (also TJ's)

It's very dark grey almost black with white polka dots. Tried to find one as SR as possible. Here is a pic:Chewbacca Jones wrote:Bond - I love that Henry suit. I'm curious, what color did you go with for the bow tie?

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
My buddy Aaron and I at the old San Bernardino Station last year:
I was originally looking for more of a lighter colored, tweed-style suit but then found this 3-piece by chance hidden in a back rack at an outlet shop. Fit was very good, the darker brown color was quite nice and the price was right ( the hat is a Raiders Keppler reblocked by John Penman along with a Magnoli tie ). The temperature was in the high 70's the day before, but this day it was right at 100 degrees! Definetly no fun in the sun.

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Daren, I'm glad you weighed in, you have so many great vintage looks. I've been debated whether to to with a Venice or Washington suit next. I think I'm leaning more toward the Washinton.
Chewie, I'm especially impressed the way you are able to repurpose several suits for different characters. I had to look back and forth several times to see if you had that many different suits.
Solent, I love the brown color. A friend just recently had a linen suit made in a very similar color and I was remarking how much I liked it. Of course, we all pale in comparison to Aaron's cargo shorts!

Indiana Jeff

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Wore a double breasted night blue suit ("Public Enemy", Magnoli) when giving the evening lecture at a conference in Cambridge (UK) earlier this year (excuse the awkward attempt of a smile).
One of the colleagues was apologizing afterwards for not being able to follow my speech as attentive as he would liked being distrcated by tha suit and asking himself where to get one all the time ...

Thanks! ( though I would have gladly traded ensembles with my buddy on that hot, miserable day. )Indiana Jeff wrote:Solent, I love the brown color. Chewie: More great suits! You've got an impressive array of suits and ties--both here and that you've shown elsewhere.
Solent MKIII: That's suit suits you! The 3-piece, the pocket-watch, the bow tie, the suitcase, and the setting--very Indy-esque!
Daren: That's the perfect combination of Washington/Sea Clipper suit, tie, and fedora--and location! The other suits are quite Indy-esque, too.
Jens: GREAT suit and tie--perfect for any conference!
Best wishes,
Nebraska S.

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Just a quick update: I finally got a photo wearing my Magnoli Washington tie and Penman CS Traveler fedora with my new navy pinstripe suit (a.k.a. "Close Enough" Wahington/China Clipper suit). Not the best angle with the mini-tripod, but better than nothing! Later on, I'll have to post an updated photo of the TOD Pankot Palace (close-enough) dinner jacket which includes my Coyle pants and Cabela's safari shirt.
Any more Indy suits out there? Please keep 'em coming!
Best wishes,
Nebraska S.

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
My version of the Clipper/Washington suit I had made at a local tailor.
The tie is a vintage HJ I happened across. I have an 80's 'power tie' that closely resembles the movie tie. I went with a light pinstripe fabric.
The reason I got dressed up.
Girl Scouts Father Daughter Dinner Dance.

Indiana Jeff

Re: Show us your Indy Suits!
Maybe some of you more experienced can answer this or maybe Magnoli, etc.
So I've been on a kick watching alot of old Bogart films... one thing I noticed is that the suits seem.....tough? As if they were built for hard wear.
I don't know how to explain it. But take Bogarts suit he wears in "High Sierrra." No only does Bogart look darn mean in it almost hulking (although we all know Bogart was a smaller guy) the suit seems bullet proof. He wears it the entire film.
Am I wrong in the assumption that suits back then were built tougher? Maybe because they were expected to be worn daily, sometimes over and over again? Maybe I'm way off base, just a thought....
