congrats-the Todd pants do look nice. Living in the UK the cheapest pants option for me is Westeds.I own a couple of pairs and although they may not be as SA as Todds they do the job for me.I may be tempted by the Todds in the future (when funds allow!) but from the pictures i've seen they do look really baggy ,especially in the crotch area and may take some getting used too. :-k .

I wear Todd's pants six out of seven days a week but not the same pair. ;) They are the best pants I've ever owned.

Oh forgot to mention on a bi-daily basis my wife complains about seeing me in these pants. She says they are to baggy. Well, they are made that way to be less restrictive and allow movement. I always like pants that were a little baggy. If you have legs like twigs or a chicken you may not like them.

it the 30s pants were often worn up to the belly button.. i myself am happyto geta pair of baggy pants in a world of straight leg dress pants.. my only issue with the pants at all is there is no taper at the bottom. Not like Wested mind u, which were great pants and have served me well, but just a little bit of taper on the bottom which i can get done here.

Well, Ravencrow, they do taper a little or else the cuffs would be outrageously huge at the bottom. I just let a pair of Todd's pants go mainly due to the cut in the rise of the pants. If they were about two inches shorter in the waiste then they would have been perfect. I wasn't bothered too much about the straight leggedness. It added to the look and drape. In some scenes in Raiders, like the truck chase when Indy is holding on to the front of the truck headlight, you can see just how baggy that pair was. In other scenes they appear to be fairly fitting and not too loose. I just took the plunge and ordered a tailored pair. Off the rack sizing doesn't always suit everybody.

I just received the trousers that jl hampton "let go"...to me. I see what he means about the rise. You really have to hike them up. But they're of such high quality that I'm enjoying them just for that! They'll serve the purpose as Indy pants just fine. Todd certainly puts care into his products.

Yeah, taking them in a bit shouldn't be hard to do for a good seamstress. I measured mine at the cuff and came up with a 20" circumference. I think that if they were about 1 to 1.5" less the taper would have been perfect.

lol , but wasn't that the style of the 30's ? a little "blousy" and then taper in at the ankle? so that you could bend over and not have the pants rise to high ? or am i over thinking this ?

Per the instructions on Todd's site, I ordered my actual waist size, 36, and they were very snug in the waist. Because I was losing weight, I kept them (partly to encourage me to keep the weight down). Unfortunately, I gained the weight back so although they still (barely) fit, they're uncomfortable, and no longer have the right look.

I was thinking about ordering another pair with a larger waist and longer inseam in order to get that slouchy look that HF has, particularly in this shot--

--and then selling the first pair, but suddenly, inspiration struck. I dropped them off with my favorite seamstress today and told her just to let out the waist as much as possible.

I don't see how I can lose. :)

I just got my Todd's back from the tailor and the fit is fantastic now. I had her let them out as much as she could. My hips are wider than HF's so I don't get that flared look, but I'm very happy with the fit.
