Thanks for asking, I'm flattered, but I have to be honest, I don't think I'm the man for the job. I've been cracking bullwhips for a few years, and I own many, but as for stockwhips, I don't have nearly as much experience, and I only recently bought a pair, so while I certainly can do it, I'm not as consisent with the stockwhip as I am with a bullwhip.jeanfifi wrote:I really like those lessons!!! it's really educationnal!
I appreciate; thanks very much!
Could I ask one more lesson about the flicks by using a stocwhip instead of a bullwhip please?![]()
I still have trouble to get nice flick cracks when using stockwhips.......Not that I am comfortable with bullwhips, but bullwhips (especially long bullwhips) makes flick easier for me.

Like you I don't have a whole lot of experience with stockwhips, but I do think with flicks you need to flick your wrist quite aDarenHenryW wrote:Thanks for asking, I'm flattered, but I have to be honest, I don't think I'm the man for the job. But I will offer this: it's my understanding/opinion that cracking a stockwhip takes a lot more snapping of the wrist than a bullwhip does. I feel that I rarely snap my wrist when cracking a bullwhip. At least I don't snap it in it that goofy way that people do who have never cracked a whip before, and who therefore assume it takes a snapping of the wrist. That said, if you watch Mike Murphy's DVDs on whipcracking, (he's using stockwhips) there are a few cracks that he describes as requiring a lot of "wristy action", which I believe further proves my point. Stockwhips are lighter and often shorter than bullwhips. The length and weight of a bullwhip will do a LOT of the work for you, so lacking that, you just need to introduce more snap or "wristy action" to force the stockwhip to move into those hairpin turns.
Anyone else have any other advice to offer?

I'm really pleased that they are helpful! And yes, I certainly plan to do more! Hopefully in the next month or two, before the weather turns bad, I'll get a few more up!fenris wrote:I've been trying to practice the Fast Figure 8, but have been having problems with the 2nd part; the reverse crack.
I kept watching Adam's video on it, but still couldn't figure out the correct motion to achieve it. Kept re-watching it over and over, but couldn't really get it right. Then... I remembered your videos. Went to youtube and re-watched your video and finally got the movements necessary to achieve the reverse crack.
Your instructions are very detailed and easy to follow.
I still haven't tried a full Fast Figure 8, though. I'm still practicing the 2nd crack over and over again until I feel that I am prepared to do the full routine.![]()
Thank you for those videos. They really are great instructional vids! I hope you could do more videos.
