That's a great little video, Daren - love the drums as well as the hat.

I should have a Sahara hat (a lightweight felt for warm weather, not from John) arrive in the next few weeks. If it looks anything like as good as yours I'll be happy!

Thought you'd appreciate this John. Though you're originally a New Yorker and Yanks fan, figured you might have a soft spot too for Dodger's who used to play around your neighborhood back in the day in Brooklyn. I've always wanted to go to a ball game in a fedora the way they used to in Babe Ruth's day. Man people looked classy even at a ball game back then. Anyway, was nice to watch the Dodger's win last night and my head was nice and warm all they way through the 9th inning! Not one Indy crack either but figuring it's Holly-weird, no one paid much mind. But when I was walking around the Commerce Casino checking out the Hold 'em games, inevitably one person cracked wise with an Indy remark but to tell you the truth.....I kinda liked it!! :-$

AWESOME PIC! A fellow ball fan, eh? As soon as I get my hat in the mail, you better believe I'll be sporting it to Turner Field in Atlanta with pride. America's pastime with a classy lid...seems like a dream! And your Dodger's won! What a day, huh?!

Absolutely they won that night! Ethier hit a 2-run homer and I gotta admit...I was praying for a foul ball to come way so I could catch it in my Penman!!! That would have really made my night!!! Hope you get to enjoy the experience of seeing a game with your lid soon!! Lots of pics too!!

PS: took that pic during batting practice that's why the seats are empty. :)

yep, and sometimes people play music instead of cracking wise : i just got back from a photography exhibit, (photographs taken by William Klein in Rome back in the sixties ; funnily enough, i spent last week in Rome, wearing fedora, jacket and satchel... ) in a nice ancient warehouse turned into a swanky exhibit hall. Somehow someone spotted me the minute I got in and the inhouse PA started to play the Raiders March in its entirety... HA ! And then the hall went silent again.
I think i should have asked the charming hostess at the admittance gate if she was the one responsible for the kind attention, but I i just smiled at her instead when i left the building.
Someone at that place has to be a massive Raiders fan, tho, being able to have the Raiders March played out loud in their gallery...

Funny moment anyway...

What an entrance you made, though!!!! Wow...I always fantasize about having my own theme music whenever I walk intoa public place! Some days I need to make an entrance with a raider's theme. But when I'm in a bad mood, I feel I need to make it known by entering a room with the Imperial March playing from somewhere within the heavens. :-({|= :-({|= :-({|=

I finally got my rabbit raiders!!!!

It has been a hard 5 months watching other members post their awesome hats on this thread.
This has been the longest wait for a christmas present for me & it was well worth it.
Here some pics of my reaction as I opened the box.
The box!
Image
First examination of the hat.
Image
Getting the hat on and adjusting it.
Image
Image
This was my reaction to first seeing myself in the mirror.
Image
Here is a comparison to my pathetic previous hat.

I'll post some pics once I get in my close enough gear (this is my first piece of accurate gear).
The hat fits perfect, the felt is super smooth, and the sweat band is very comfortable
The wait was well worth it & it was exactly what I wanted.
Thanks so much John!

Jedichase--congratulations on your new rabbit Raiders! It suits you! Looking forward to seeing how it just gets more character with time.

Sammy, congratulations on your CS gray train traveler fedora--it looks great on you!!! You'll find that granite color quite flexible for what it'll match. I'm still enjoying mine as a dress hat for Sunday and for academic conferences.

Wear them in good health, Sammy and Jedichase!

:TOH: Best wishes,

Thank you Nebraska. I fully intend to wear this hat with a number of different blacks and grays while reserving my brown CS hat for all my earth tones.

:TOH: Thanks Trigger. John DOES take his work seriously. This isn't just a hobby for him. It's his livelihood and he knows how to treat his customers. He's always a phone call away whether it be to discuss your order, your hat, or anything else that might strike your fancy. Dedicated, hardworking and talented craftsmen like John are a rare commodity in America these days. ESPECIALLY in the garment industry. So we are blessed to have him here in our Indy community.

At the risk of stating the obvious, with John's hats it's pretty much a question of which one you want FIRST.

Truer words were never said . . .

The ONLY Penman I don't have and don't currently plan to have is a TOD . . . But that won't last long. I have an LC and three Raiders, and a BUNCH of other "Penmans" and Indy style hats. I do plan to have a CS sometime within a year. So, yeah, the TOD . . . I guess I better just starting accepting the obvious . . . I will order one, whether I think I'm going to or not. Definitely a Bridge Scene TOD . . . yeah . . .

Oh, boy . . .

John, what have you done to us?!? :-s

John, along with Steve, Marc, Art, David and a very few select others, gave the few remaining real "hat people" in the world a reprieve from the onslaught of "el-cheapo" sewn together, cloth, Justin Timberlake stingy brim cowpies and "Made in China" paper "fedoras".

Kinda like tossing a drowning man a life boat.

I think maybe we're afraid it's a dream and we might wake up.
