and instead of "cowboy" comments, i got "paperboy" instead

that is so typically Europe. People can't tell a fedora from a cowboy hat...
and i guess that's partly what makes it so enjoyable to wear those nice hats : you differenciate from the herd... not being smug or anything, but you gotta love that (and be able to take the funny look people give you sometimes).
When that happens to me, I just pull out my whip and snap em in the eye. Then to add insult to injury, I say "Yeah, that's right. Didn't see that coming did ya .... now stop lookin' at my hat". I may be paraphrasing a bit.

i wore a baseball cap into my local cvs store last week and the girl behind the counter said hello and then did a double take , she said she didnt know it was me at first since i wasnt wearing my fedora .lol
Since you mention it - last week I was in the book store when a guy with his two little boys passed me in the aisle and one of the boys pointed up at me and yelled "Cowboy". I pointed at him and said "Little kid!!" The dad busted out laughing.

It felt good.

Love it! I hear the cowboy comment constantly at school. I have to use the 'little kid' comment. If anything, it'll make me crack up.
