My dad popped in unexpectedly yesterday to drop off an early B-day present.
When I opened the package, I about wet myself with joy.

What was in the box? Why a shiny Smith @ Wesson model 19 (4th revision) with a 4 inch barrel!
It came with some nice looking, comfortable Pachmyer grips. However, I'm going to find some wood service grips w/medalion to give it more of an Indy look. (Anyone know where to find these grips for a K frame? S&W sells repops, but, only for the N frames)

The gun has been fired less than 200 times in its lifetime and has almost no wear to the finish.

It may not be a m1917, but, I couldn't be happier.





I'm going out this morning to feed it some .357magnum.

I have a couple of these, I have found that if you run a lot of magnum rounds through them the rear sight elevation stud can strip out. I have a couple of spares for mine. I'd check eBay and/or gunbroker.com for OEM grips (aka stocks). I recently "retro-ized" one of my shotguns by putting wood furniture on it. Your revolver's gonna look great.

I'll more than likely shoot mainly 38spcl through it. The 357mag is fun, but, a bit expensive and a little overkill for paper targets.
I'll keep an eye on that stud.

Thanks. Dad has his moments. I'd count this as one of them.
I checked ebay and google searches, but, so far have only came up with one set from an old K-22 (which should fit). However, they are in pretty rough condition and the seller wants too much for them.

I'd like a pair of new ones, but, haven't found anyone who makes repro's.
NOS grips are going to be an arm and a leg, if I can find some.

I'll check out gunbroker and see what I can find.

I carried one of these when I was a Police Investigator many years ago. It has always been my handgun of choice. Reliable, accurate, and sturdy. One of the best revolvers ever made. It resides in my nightstand drawer next to my bed.

The other grips in the photo are from a S&W Victory that I bought for a Todd's airsoft gun.
They look really cool, but, they are just too small to be comfortable and pretty beat up.
