Jackets for shorter men?

Does anyone know of any good jackets, companies, stores, or whatever, for shorter men?
A2, G1, Indy, carcoat, doesn't matter... just window shopping at the moment.
I didn't realize how long my A2 looks on me until now.

What do you mean by "shorter men"? Five feet 6 or shorter? It's generally all in the tailoring and that tends to mean going custom and paying the price. Modern A2's are cut generous and often look odd on shorter men because they are puffy and long. In general, longer lines suit shorter people, so the A2 knits could be a problem and the Indy does not have these - it's all one peice of long leather giving flattering length to the shorter man. An A2 looks best to me if it goes 2 inches over your belt on mid rise pants.

I find most clothing is made for people of average height or taller.. which baffles me.. but yeah, anything that would be considered a men's short.. like a suit coat being 38S etc..
So do you think the G1 with a wider (if looked at sideways otherwise taller) knit flatter my height better?

The principle is simple - learned it from a friend who did costume design for TV. If you are shorter, you want clean lines that run straight up and down - no horizontal lines that break up the look - so any knits will tend to break that line, as will any stripe pattern running across your body. If you must get a jacket with knits, the knits should be the same colour as the jacket so as not to break up a clean look. It's simply the case that a usually person looks shorter (and fatter) if they wear horizontal lines in their clothing.

On the other hand The Fonz was 5 ft 6 and he wore a jacket with kits and made it work okay. On TV anyway. I think teh knits were the same colour as the jacket...

The other thing is the jacket must run over your belt line and fit in the sleeves and shoulders to help create a longer look.

It's ironic, I know a guy who is over 7 feet, all he wants to be is shorter... He stoops all the time but never fools anyone.

Yeah I find nothing attractive about being taller, or intrinsically superior about it... but I do want clothing that fits well (bought a jacket earlier this year that had shorter length and was amazed how much better it looked on me). I'm 5'6-5'7.. my proportions are wacked though haha...

I did learn about the no horizontal line thing so I don't have anything with horizontal lines.. but now I see what you're saying about the knits..

The Fonz being my height makes me feel better lol
