Here is my whip 4 years later and is heavily used!
this whip absolutely gorgeous! the details are pure Raiders as you can see from the photos. Pagey is very well known for his Morgan making old style whips. It's tightly braided with the last batch of David Morgan Roo hide Nick had in stock. I mean, what else can be said about it then this is totally awesome and probably is the most SA whip out there on the market. well, IMO.

That's a beaut for sure....I've not yet ventured into the whip realm, but seeing quality workmanship like this that has been proved to be functional, certainly pushes me closer to that first purchase...

Ian, mate...Whips are bad heinie....You should have one...If only to tell your mates that you have a weapon that is supersonic and you can control with ease! (They are painful when you smack your own back though...)

It was BendinOak that recommended Pagey. after he did I searched all his whip posts and I quickly learned that Pageys was extremely close to the early 80's Morgan and then I had to have it..
it is even made in DM roo hide...
I think have a picture somewhere on my PC when it was new. I can see if I can find it.

David Morgan roo hide is just roo hide from packer leather, which is where Richard Taubman gets his leather, who is a popular
place to buy roo if you're a whip maker. It's also where Charles Hardtke gets his leather, which is where I buy mine from. The only
difference is that David Morgan charges a buttload of cash to buy a roo hide from him. You could just get the same stuff from

difference is that David Morgan charges a buttload of cash to buy a roo hide from him. You could just get the same stuff from

This is true of course. At the time, my other sources were unable to deliver decent natural tan hides of a reasonable size and weight due to the recent drought and as I was in contact with David Morgan via the phone at that time, it became apparent that he had quite a stock of the sort of hides i was after and kindly agreed to hand select some for me, knowing what it was i needed them for. This was right around the time that Bending Oak kindly took one of my whips out (on loan from Gmann) for David to try out - which was a big deal for me, especially as David was very generous with his praise. I am very honoured that David took the time to assess my whip and give me feedback on the phone. And as such, his hand selected hides may very well have only been regular roohide - but at the same time, to me they were rather special.

lol, you're just like me, only in a little longer timeline. Right after I finish a whip, I don't feel like making any more whips... for like

So, I finally had the chance to compare Pageys whip with David Morgans whips. I will say this. Pageys work is just as good as the Morgan IMO. very high quality braiding. very tight and the transition is still pretty stiff, all though the rest is pretty limp and broken in, the whip just wants to crack when you only lift it up. very nice! the Morgen? she is just a treat. I love it and is now my new favorite but the Pagey is a strong second. I have heared about Pageys whips having small gaps in the braiding after they have broken in but I have no gaps in my whip, nothing! and I have almost used it for 4 years and again it is very broken in now. all in all, way to go Whiskyman!
