From falls & poppers to plaiting & cracking technique, this section is dedicated in memory of Sergei, IndyGear Staff Member and Whip Guru. Always remember to keep "Celebratin' Life!"
I recently decided it was time to learn some new tricks on something that was a little easier to handle than an 8 ft Indy style whip. Lion Tamer is to blame for this. He has a 6ft Australian Terry Jacka whip, and he also has some of Lauren's nylon performance hybrid whips. After cracking his whips, I can see some new possibilities. I wanted this whip to look more like a wild west show performer's whip for another costume I have put together. It may be awhile before my routines come together, but I'm really going to enjoy looking at Joe's fine craftsmanship. I had a chance to crack it yesterday, and I really like it. Originally I had decided that this would be a 12 plait whip, to keep the cost down a bit. After looking in Ron Edward's whip book, I saw how many more handle patterns were possible with 16 plait. Joe said it would also make his job alot easier to do the handle designs in 16 plait. I'm really pleased with what he has done. I should be out using it right now instead of being on the computer.
