My new Crease 'n Corral Raiders whip.
Hi everybody,
Well, today was that day that all gear-heads love, package day!
Waiting on the kitchen table when I got home was my new whip from Dustin Damrel at http://www.creasencorral.com, It's an 8 footer made in his new Raiders pattern (now with SA knots), but, with an extra inch of handle hidden in the thong (9" handle).
Let me just say that this thing is freakin' beautiful!
The plaiting is top notch! Ruler straight seams and a great taper from 24mm at the beginning of the thong down to a slim 6mm at the point (yep, it's LOUD).
Not a lump, bump or dropped strand can be seen.
The thong is amazingly dense, yet, the whip is very fluid.
This is one of the most responsive, accurate and easiest to control whips I've ever handled.
You simply point the whip in the direction you want it to go and it cracks.
It's light and very well balanced, which means I was able to crack longer than usual without the fatigue.
I spent a whole hour after work just trying to see how little power I could use and still make it crack.
I like this one so much, I'm talking to him about a long handled, 7' target whip.

Beautiful whip good sir! Great whips at great prices. The LC whip is also rather gorgeous. I may have to add that to my gear.

Thanks guys!
Rex,
It is a loud one. With very little effort, I can make the whole neighborhood mad at me
Bogie,
I'm not a fan of his LC, but his CS whips look great to me. Wouldn't mind picking up one of those.

You wrote that it's light and Dusty wrote over the Lounge that his whips matches Morgan style whips when comes to weight.
Could you weigh yours Kwad?
Maybe some video?

Re: My new Crease 'n Corral Raiders whip.
Tomek,
Unfortunately, I don't have a way to accurately weigh it. (I only have a very old bathroom scale.)
Light may not be the correct term to use.
What I should have said is that it feels light when in motion (if that makes sense).
Not nose-heavy, but, not butt heavy either. I guess that would be more do to the balance than the weight.
The actual weight is probably about the same as a Morgan or any other Indy whip of this size.
I'd love to get some video of myself, but, I can't get wifey to hold the camera.

Yeah, she's not affraid of me.
I've seen her knock a dude out with her purse one time at a movie theater.
Did I mention she carries one of those Herman Munster lunch boxes as a purse?

Thanks Bravo!
Bogie,
I just don't care for the increase in diameter right after the ring knot on the LC.

You could have him pull that back some, and put the transition knot on the bulge. No big deal, really easy fix.kwad wrote:Thanks Bravo!

Actually, if I get anything else from him, it will be a target style whip.

That's a lovely looking whip mate. Great value too. I do like the different variations as shown on his website.

Re: My new Crease 'n Corral Raiders whip.
watching...
That whip flows so smoothly You said you're out of practice, did you always throw it so.. I don't know how to explain, it's not
like you're throwing it really hard, just kind of snappy. Maybe try to relax a little more? Adam where are you when we need you
edit: the second video looks a lot more relaxed. Was it more broken in then? I find it awkard feeling using my most recent whip
cuz it's still SO stiff. Maybe that's all I was seeing in the first one.

Re: My new Crease 'n Corral Raiders whip.
No, I took both videos tonight. So I don't think the whip got any more broken in, I just relaxed.
Knowing that a camera is rolling always make me tense up.
I am out of practice, but, have recently made a promise to myself to crack my whips every day (Got the idea from T.Rex).
I started a week ago and have practiced every day, even it I only had time to crack it three or four times.
I want it to feel perfectly natural when I hold a whip, and the only way for me to do that is practice everyday (hey, it works for guitar).

As I have sold my David Morgan whip now I might get one in the future as a nice cheap replacement, just as a nice little keep sake to remind me of my Morgan.tomek9210 wrote:Dusty's whips are awesome. Period. Best quality for such small price. I think I'm raising some funds

Gio,
This whip IS a work of art.
Honestly, I don't know how the guy can sell them for so little.
Collectedin89,
You should pick one up! However, this time you need to crack it!
