Re: National Felt Hat Day. . .
I have been wearing felts for the better part of the summer.
Re: National Felt Hat Day. . .
Well I did wear one of my fedoas yesterday and one the day before yesterday and again, another today. However, I didn't do it because it was 'National Felt Hat Day.' No, no, no...I did it because ...well ....because, that is what I did . Honestly I did not know there was such a 'beast' as this. That is truly wild. Where did this come from? When did it start? By who/whom? You have really got my curiousity goin' here. W>

Re: National Felt Hat Day. . .
Hey Guys--Thanks for the replies!
I realize that many of you wear them every day--I was just sharing a little out of my own surprise that there is such a day, because I only found out mid-day yesterday, when I was home for lunch. Can't even remember how--maybe some mention on Facebook or something--but I Googled it and sure enough--it was "official" somehow. Every year on September 15th, apparently. So. . .I just grabbed mine and wore it back to work for the rest of the day (I'm not in a career--nor a climate--where I can wear one every day like some of you), and it was special to me to do this.
As for the hat. . .any guesses? It's my "good one."
I also have an "Officially Licensed" Dorfman Pacific (I guess) which I purchased at a local department store back in 1990. have experimented, bashed, re-bashed, sprayed with water, dusted with ash and dirt, crumpled it in my hands, colored the ribbon, etc.--and it still does the job--even wore it into the woods hiking last weekend.
Anyway, I was curious yesterday to see if anyone around town locally might also be wearing a felt hat (most commonly a fedora, of course), and no, I didn't see a single one all afternoon. So I wondered if any of you guys did--or were even aware of it.
So, any guesses on the maker of my hat?
Greg

Shot of the bow and the side of the hat? That would help in determining the make. If I had to guess from that one shot, I'd say, going off the block shape, it is a Garrison.

Ok, here are a few from this morning:

and for good measure. . .
. . .Kingdom of the Shower Curtain. Was looking at and comparing colors of different gear elements. Not an Indy jacket, but a practice run on distressing before I get to the Gibson & Barnes in the closet.

Regarding your comments on 'not living in a clilmate'...where you can wear felts everyday...join, the club. That is why it was fun to post here on your thread that I had three days of wearing some of my fedoras behind me and still today it is a grand day for such. Weather here this summer was unbearably hot. Wore a couple of my Tilleys and even some ball-type caps, but there were days when I didn't wear any hat at all and for me that is really strange ...but, as stated, at least for the time being all is well and I am loving every minute of it ! Oh...not sure about the maker of your hat -- but it's a good lookin' lid ! W>

I braved wearing fur felts the majority of this past brutal summer but during the worst parts I just couldn't handle it. My Stratton's liner now has all sorts of crazy stains and sweat deposits. It's finally cooled down enough that I can put one on without worry.
Columbiana - that last picture is awesome!

You guys would probably hate it here... because the whole year is like summer! Hahaha!
We have only 2 seasons; Hot n Humid (Summer) and Hot n Wet (Rainy season).

Hey CJ, add my name to those who think your hat looks pretty great!
I'm curious, though...
Do you ever intend to tell us who made it? It's almost three full days since Gorak first asked you... or did I miss it somewhere in the last few posts?
Ah well... whether you did tell us, whether you will, or whether you never intend to tell us, my compliments on a handsome fedora!
But it'd be nice to know.

Re: National Felt Hat Day. . .
No magic or smoke and mirrors involved here.
You've posted 40 or so times as of this posting.
11 of those (as of my posting) only pertained to fedoras, and ALL of those were about either you receiving your Fed Deluxe in 2007, your 1.5 year anniversery of receiving your Fed Deluxe, and then this one. Had you received a hat from another vendor, I'm sure you would have reported same.....so, as I said recently to an old friend, 'Elementary, my dear CJ.'
All one has to ever do is use the search function of this site.
Regards! Michaelson

Yeah, but I was hoping for guesses based on looking at the photos versus using the search function.Michaelson wrote:No magic or smoke and mirrors involved here.

Blame it on me working for academia all these years. That's why I'm a 'knower of things' I guess.

Frankly, I still wouldn't have been that surprised if you HAD nailed it just by looking at it...Michaelson wrote:'Elementary, my dear CJ.'
Michaelson, I'm guessing that separate and apart from knowing how to do the research, spot the clues and uncover the trails, you've probably picked up a sharp eye (or two) for this sorta' thing over the years...
Ever think about buddying-up with Gater at his Detective Agency?

It actually cooled off enough to wear felt 3 days this week in the Fort Worth area. Gray on Tuesday, Raiders on Thursday, Black on Friday.
