Was watching the show 'Leverage' on TNT this past Sunday when I caught a glimpse of a character in what appears to me to be a VERY Indy-esque hat. Would love to know the maker and where the costumers picked it up......here are a couple screen-grabs:
So what do you guys think? Looks kinda LC/Raiders/YIJ hybridy to me.
Regards,
Brian

Love that lid, esp from the first shot...Looks very LC to me or Mystery of the Blues, although the front pinch is looser....Love the wonky brim.....Ribbon looks very familiar...

Dorfman? Not a chance. It's way too well made. My money is on it's a Penman. Whether or not John sold one for use in the show I don't know... maybe they borrowed it?
Congratulations on your "getting the job" for this show!
It would be interesting to hear how it all came aboout, if you are allowed to share.

It's not that exciting of a story. The costume designer Found me via goolge. That's right google. She called me and then came into the shop...........
Dude!!! That's how I found you....I joined COW after I first emailed you about a lid..
So what is it?
Ian
A hat.
ok, I'll stop being a smart mouth and try and answer your questions the best I can. It is a Indy brown felt pure beaver handmade by me using the Indy ribbon. Made to have a Indy-esk look without looking to Indy-ish. Hopefully it worked.
The crown I creased based off of what Christian wanted. What you see on screen is exactly how I creased it ( I only made one hat for them). It was in one scene that they jumped back to about 4 times. I don't know if I'm explaining it right. I only saw that episode once and wouldn't have if squidkidd didn't call me. Thank you Brian.

It's pretty cool seeing that combo in a different style.
There is another Indy connection to this show. After getting the gig I started checking out the show. Started watching it from the first season. Got hooked and now its one of my shows. The other connection is Anthony De Longis. he's in the 3rd or 4th episode of season one. The show is worth checking out. Lots of fun.

It's been one of my wife and my favorites ever since it premiered a few years ago.
Regards! Michaelson
I myself missed it when it first came out. I checked out the show to get an idea of who I was making a hat for and got hooked. It was an extra treat to see Anthony on the show.
Congrats on getting one of your creations on the small screen! No small feat, John. Hope all is well. Beautiful hat, by the way. That ribbon work definitely gives you away.
John, congratulations! Well deserved. I hope this leads to bigger and better things. It is satisfying to know that I now own a fedora from 2 famous hatters
Sorry I'm late to the party but excellent hat john! I'm seeing more and more hats in shows these days and to know that you made the hat in one of my favorite shows....
John, nice work, nice looking lid. I too have been watching the show and when I first read this thread, the hat jumped ou at me, and I'm like hmmmm who's hat is that I wonder. Proud to hear it's yours.
Might have to think this one over as I was hinting to the miss, got a new jacket, might be time for a new hat. And this would be a nice addition, Indy looking and not a direct Indy hat at the same time.
Very nice hat John! Looks like I need to start watching this show. The character Christian Kane plays has my last name, Spencer. Not that that's my only reason to watch the show, it looks really good but there hasn't been much time to watch tv lately.
I watch stuff like Falling Skies on TNT, but have never heard of this show . In that, I havent even seen a commercial for it when I've been watching TNT. What is it about?
