new Wested ordered/arrived ( with pics)

I just ordered my 3th Indy Wested. It has been 8 years since my last one and I thought it was time to get a new one.
I considered many options but choose to go Wested as I've dealt with them in the past and met Peter in person last year.
I ordered an off the rack jacket. My made to measure jackets I bought in 2000 and 2003 were good but not excellent and since then I've worn other (non Indy) jackets ( which weren't made to measure) and those ones fit me much better. So i just took the chance and ordered my usual jacketsize and ordered a size larger. I mostly do that because in the winter it can get pretty cold here and I wear a lot of clothes underneath.
When the jacket arrives, I'll give you a shout here.
Oh yeah, it's a LC style pre-distressed hide.

Well I have the exact jacket that you have ordered and I absolutely love it. It's quite heavy, but very comfortable. The colour and shape suits best to a KotCS look, but that's actually why I got it. I think you'll be very pleased with it.

Just as an aside, I love the DHL tracking site. Good choice by Wested for their international orders. You can practically see when the pilot eats dinner.

first impression: wow, fantastic. what an improvement over my last indy jacket from Wested. this one is just a beauty. perfect. My 2003 Wested looks like @#$% when compared to this one. amazing. so I'm probably tossing out my old jacket later. can give it to the charity clothes collecting place thing a few blocks away.

pics will follow soon! going back to bed because I had a late night working. guess I only had 4 hours of sleep, need at least 3 more.

oh yeah, first one who post the emoticon: "this thread is worthless without pics" gets a virtual kick in the backside. haha

and the smell of the leather... gosh. fantastic! the jacket is quite heavy and you feel it is a strong jacket. I'm glad I took the off the shelve jacket because it's the best Indy Wested I had. It's just amazing. only shame there are no gussets for better armmovement but it's fine. it's one #### of a jacket. I'm pleased as punch. big thanks go out to Peter Botwright and his team. Great jacket, great delivery. I'm very happy!

hope I can have some pictures of me wearing it soon. i'm going to Germany next week so I guess I'll have some pictures with me wearing it then.
and my whole appartment just smells like leather. I just love it.

The pre dis leather smell is really strong for two weeks and then lessens. Still smells great tho'!

thank you all. I just can't keep my eye of it. And I wore it a couple of times today aswell. The smell of the leather is slowly getting less hard. Give it a couple of days and it will be fine.
Gitte told me she loved it aswell and she was already looking at the Wested website earlier today. Guess she might be interested in a motorcycle jacket as she is taking lessons since last week.
I got to say, Wested has trully improved their Raiders jacket over the years. I made some quick comparison pics, on the left my 2003 goatskin LC jacket and on the right my 2011 pre-d hide LC jacket:

I do have one question: what kind of leather is this pre-distressed leather: cowhide? lamb? goatskin? horse? something else?

I think the leather Wested offers as the pre-d hide is cowhide. I'm not an expert but my first Wested was a lambskin, my second was a goatskin and this is something else. My guess is the cowhide. I think this jacket was discussed in another thread and I believe they said it was cow.

it's an off the rack jacket and not custom made. but yes, it was very very quick. what a service! I'm very pleased with how things went. I never thought I would have it in such a short time, even for an otr jacket.

Just to let you guys know the jacket has broken in very well. to speed up that process, i even slept in the jacket! more than once! I'm so pleased with it now and it's the best I've ever owned thus far. really need to get some pics of myself in the jacket. i'll see what i can do.

The LC HAS to be in pre-dis...It looks perfect for it in my opinion...

I have a custom Raiders, and while the colour isn't "right" (SA wise) for Raiders, it's still the best jacket I own, and the most comfortable...The leather smell has faded a touch, but when wearing it it still has the scent...

Good choice, and it looks like a spot on Jacket...

me too but I already had a small accident with it and the stitching on the outside right pocket has come loose. total length is about 3 cm I suppose. Not too bad. I'll get that fixed whenever I find someone who can do that here. don't think I'll be in the UK any time soon.

What leather did you choose and can I ask why you chose that leather? My Todd didn't work out for me, seemed a bad cut, bell tent bottom, tight neck and far too short, though as guys are discussing in the thickness thread, I am worried about weight and softness. I believe the original was a lighter jacket.. But original/authenticity is key to me.
