A friend of mine was wondering how long it would take for him to get an AB from Steve if he orders today.
Anyone got an idea?

I read somewhere that the AB Deluxe from Marc will last at least 12 months.

True, with Steves new price of $650 your hat will be made on his day off & you will recieve it in about 8 weeks.

Just passed the 3 year mark for me a few days ago. I feel like we are all in this together or something  I am still patiently waiting. I know it will be worth it for me. I wear a size 60 ( 24") head so I dunno if that will speed up my wait time or not.

Can't understand the following... how come some guys are waiting for years as new customers can get them in 6 to 8 weeks? Can anyone explain? Bit confused here...

New orders that pay $650 are done on Steve's "off days." Since he doesn't get very many orders at that price, most of his time is spent on the backlog of orders for everyone who didn't pay $650.

If you look at Steve's pricing page he quotes a turn around time on the $650 price. In the past at the cheaper prices he said the wait times are long and it might not be to some people's liking, which is why he pointed some people to the "Henry". With his new price he wanted to make the turnaround time more reasonable, especially for that kind of money. Those who paid the cheaper prices were never offered quick turnaround. But to be fair to those waiting longer, he does the new orders on his days off instead of cutting in front of the other customers.

With all fairness I think Steve managing to do what he has, given all that he's been through should be testament enough to the man's work ethic....There's a queue, but if he can do what he did with the issues he had to fight through, he'll be pacing through them at a better rate now...So, a touch more patience and understanding and what will be, will be...

I'd reckon... :TOH:

I hope to hear an update soon as well. I put my order in back in March of 2008. I've emailed several times (even from different accounts in case of spam filtering), but I never hear back. I hope all is well, and I'd like to get some update of some kind.

Steve emailed me this week (12-07 order here) confirming he had all my info and asked for my address. This could be a good sign or he is just making sure his records are accurate. Either way

That is good to know, was wondering how Steve is doing these days, have not seen him post on the boards in a long while. From your info sounds like he is doing alright. I think with the wait being that long, maybe he was seeing if you still live in the same place. Some people move into a different house or a different state, so I think it was more of making sure he got the hat to the right place. Hope you get your hat soon.

Just called Steve today for a sizing change for my Nov. 2007 order since I figured it's pretty close in the line. His mother said he has been sick in bed with a Staff infection for 3 days now. I sent an email, but MAN...my head seems to have shrunk over the past 3 and a half years...almost a whole inch in circumference.

I'm worried he may be off his feet again too.
March '08 as well, and emailed him from three email accounts and a pm here- nothing heard back. I hope he posts here soon that he's back and healthy!!

I only saw his June update this week, and I've sent a couple of e-mails to check on the status (and to make sure he remembers) my order.

I have received no reply, here or by e-mail.

I've got to admit, seeing him say:
I have completed all of the hat orders that I had a back log of, but I also have misplaced or lost a big pad of orders, that I need to make to finally get back on top of this. So, if you ordered a hat, but never recieved it, please email me, at sdelk@cableone.net, with our current address, which Indy hat you wanted and you head measurments so I can get you guys finally covered.
...has made communication seem more urgent than it did before. When it was just him flooded with e-mails and orders, I understood not getting a reply. When he says he may have lost my order, it is no longer okay.

Yeah, I emailed him like you Lingarn and have received no answer as well. At this point I'm not concerned about the hat (although I would like it) but am really concerned about his health and well-being. I've seen a number of folks who have gone through what he has over do it and end up really sick. I truly hope he paces himself.

Guys, Just to make sure, you do know Steve has had a staph infection between that post and last week, right?

Not making light of your situation at all, but please keep in mind he's been through heck and back on his health lately. I suggest e-mailing him again with URGENT or CONCERNED (caps are intentional) in the subject line stating your concern that your order might have been overlooked in the recent chaos. I have no doubt he's working much harder than he should considering his health at the moment so please don't think negative about him.

gwyddion, I was about to say that, but you were more tactful than I could have been.
The man is a machine, and while many are still waiting for their hats and have been waiting for a long time... Shouldn't someone strap Steve down and make him rest? I'm sure the man already dreams about Fedora's in his sleep.

Guys, I understand that life happens. I know Fedora works hard, and I know that he has been through rough times lately -- a good deal rougher than I'd have wished on anyone. I like Fedora, and have extended a lot of trust.

But surely you must understand that him posting that he lost a bunch of orders and then not replying to messages asking about orders is a valid source of concern?

If I actually thought he was just going to walk away with my money, I wouldn't be so polite. I still do believe Fedora will make good. But there are levels of customer service that aren't okay, that can't be easily dismissed, and this is one of them.

I'll try the URGENT heading, and report back if it works.

EDIT:

And just to be clear, I'm not demanding my hat, at the expense of his health.

I'm not complaining about the wait time.

I'm just asking for acknowledgement from his end that he remembers my order exists. It isn't unreasonable.

I'm not saying that your concern isn't justified, not at all. That's why I sugested the headers to you :TOH:

What I wanted to do is make it understandable why you might not have heard back on the status of your order. ;)

It's all very frustrating. There's a number of us who have been waiting years for our orders to be filled. I do not suspect Mr. Delk of anything nefarious, not in the least. And I understand the seriousness of his issues of health. I sincerely wish him well, and I am happy to include him in my prayers. That said, Mr. Delk's failure to answer the queries he's received over a period of what is now years, as well as his lost order pad, is a troubling concern to those of us who contracted with him for his magnificent hats. This forum is all we have to keep track of what progress there may or may not be. Lacking any confirmation as to an ETA, I am more inclined now to ask for a full refund rather than to continue waiting. I am unsure if there is alternative. Good Luck to Mr.Delk, I do truly wish him well.

You need to reacquaint yourself with his refund policy, if that's the path you are choosing to go. This has been posted in the vendor's section a year ago last July:

I am acquainted with Mr. Delk's recent shift in his refund policy. And it's cause for further concern, as it wasn't the policy when I ordered, and paid, for one of his hats. I paid in full, not in "parts." Mr. Delk operates a one person business. I suspect he is overwhelmed with orders; and, during the past year, health issues, of which we have just learned of. I repeat, I truly do not suspect Mr. Delk of anything criminal. But so far as customer service goes, there's too many things wrong to keep ignoring.

No one said you were making a comment one way or the other. I was just pointing you toward his policy that has been pubically in place for well over a year, and nothing more. :TOH:
