It grieves me to learn that the Purple Heart award was never awarded - and in Sarge's case, more than one Heart at that. This recognition is richly deserved and knowing that after all of these years, someone is actually sitting up and taking notice makes me more happy than anyone could possibly know.

Sarge, you and the other veterans of your era never got the proper treatment you were/are entitled. I'm glad to see this being rectified.

The Veterans of my generation seem to have it very different, and being one myself, I've been at odds with those differences.

The difference hits so close to home because my dad is also a Vietnam Vet. I feel a little "off" seeing my generation get welcomes, praise, etc; yet still know how ugly it was for his (and your) era's returning Vets.

Still, I'm glad to see, however late, that you are getting the notoriety you rightfully deserve.

HOOAH!
