From what I could tell it will be the same price.I just stopped by the Alden store. They said that in about 4 months they will start carrying a black Indy boot. Same as the current standard #405: waxhide leather, cotton lining, white stitching, neoprene sole - but black instead of brick-red.

Mola Ram, Is this an exclusive boot do you know? Or is Alden offering it up to Anyone? They make a black cap toe dress boot on the same last as the 405 but it doesn't fit my structurally challenged (i.e. wide @$$) feet as well as the 405's. I hope it's open availability, I would like to wear something other than various shades of Khaki to work to match my boots!

I heard the same thing when I was in the Alden store in Manhattan back in Jan. On a whim, I asked if 405s were offered in any other colors, and was told that they were working on ones in black, which would be about available in about 6 months (back then), so 4 months sounds about right.
I suppose this should give us an idea of what to expect :

probably more like this...

Haven't heard anything. I wish I could tell you. But they would be the same price as the brown ones. Even for a special order. I'll talk to my Alden sales rep and see when the street date is. Probably new for fall. But rest assured I'll let you know!

If black 405's do release you know I'm going to be looking for a pair from you right? 11E of course....

Black Aldens
Schmidty,
Keep us posted on this. I would love a pair in black. These are absolutely the BEST shoe/boot I've ever worn. Made a huge difference in my back pain, plus the fine fit and room for my orthotics.
Best,
KY

I actually like the other versions of the Indy boot except any variance from the original boot kicks up the price anywhere from $100 to $350.
If Alden makes the Indy boot in black at the price of the original boot and I'll order on the spot.
Anyone own the US M1904 Marching Shoe from WPG? If it wasn't cap toe it would make a pretty good Indy boot close enough.

in a conversation such as that, i usually follow up with, "......how'z about i just sell some of your purses cuz you could never use all of them in one day......"

I've tried the purse trick before good sir and I didn't like the results...My back just can't take the stiffness of the couch again...At least for a little while...Indiana G wrote:yes.......yes i do.........sneakertinker wrote:I'm considering, very much in fact, placing an order for the Black Cordovan "Indy's" through Alden of Carmel...Just pending the approval of the wife and we all know how that goes...

I do however find that a nice night out to dinner and maybe a show works wonders for the boot budget...It was Marc that got me tipped off to this method...and the man should be declared a Saint in regards as this method has gotten me out of a few tight spots relating to the wonderful world of Indy Gear... ;-)

Re: Black Alden Indy Boot on the way...
I just got back from the Alden's store in DC and they have black 405's. The only differences are a cap toe instead of a moc toe and a leather sole. I had been looking for a pair of black ones for work but due to the leather sole (slick as snot on a marble floor) I declined them. I'll still be waiting for the Carmel store to get theirs in my size.

Dredged this thread up from the Well of Soles: Black (not cordovan; regular leather) is now a production color for 405s The manager of the DC store put me on her list.
