Temple of Doom by Giovanni Celeste

Post by steerpike »

Hallo,
Here it is my first 10ft whip. Is a Temple of Doom style, made by my dear friend Giovanni Celeste on my personal specs. It has the classical tapered handle, but a bit thicker. I love this whip. and I'm happy I'm very confortable with the 10ft lenght.

Just perfect, I like it a lot!
How long is the handle? I mean the distance from bottom of the buttknot and top of the ringknot.
Could you make some video review [-o< ?

Very nice Steerpike! (Going for the TOD look lately? )

The TOD handles are my favorite (love tapered handles), but, I also like the thicker thongs of the later Morgans.
You've got the best of both worlds there.

Gio seems to be on a roll lately.
He's been putting out some excellent work.

Keep it up Gio!

I wish some of the whips that were used in the movies had the handle taper thinner for the first 3 or so inches of the handle, then

taper wider to the transition. I really like to look of these but I would like to me my whips screen accurate.

Hy Guys,
thanks a lot for your positive feedback!!! :TOH: and i'm very glad.
It was really difficult but at the same time enjoyable make this whip.
I built this whip according the choice of my friend Steerpike so this whip was made "virtually" together step by step.
The size of the handle was made according the size of his hand that would go well on his hand. In other words not a generic tod handle but customized "ad hoc".
We have worked on the color to give used a look as close to the original photo. This has involved several baths of fat tanning:):) and the choice of using a fall in saddle color and not the classic white hide fall.
Of course, unlike the photos posted , we decided to strengthen the curvature of the thong and let "fall" over time "
Thanks a lot mr. Steerpike :TOH:
Gio

Here other some pics. (the first pic is the original color of the hide)

I enjoy seeing Giovanni Celestes work. He has been creating whips for many years and his work always shows the consistency of his craftsmanship!
