ok, guys and dolls. Haven't played one of these in a long time. This is a hat that was sent to me for a reblock. I reblocked it but what was the original maker/label? The clues are in these three photos. Please say why as well as your guess and NO RINGERS.
John, this one is a bit difficult, since you have already reblocked it, but I'm just going by the color, thickness and texture of the felt. To me, it looks like an HJ or a Christy...?
I'm with Daren... I'll say Lee Keppler, too.
My reasoning is simple (AND unreliable) enough: I've seen a few Kepplers take on that lovely color after a few years...
Either way, nice looking final product John.
that looks like a Christy, but the ribbon doesn't match...it also has a more 'boxy-er' look than that of a Christy. So I'm assuming it's not a Christy. However, I'm going to guess that it is an HJ.
I'd have gone with a handmade hat.... Since I thought I could see fingerprints on the brim... Slightly lighter areas in the brown felt that reminded me of my Adventurebilt hat... But I can't be sure that the ribbon is right for an Adventurebilt... So..
If we're only allowed one guess I've made mine... Although something about the brim reminded me of my Adventurebilt too... And it could just be the fingerprint look... I don't know..
Colours are pretty ###### good though... Which lead me away from Christy's and the HJ... Hmmm...

We have a winner
The things that should have tipped you was the old tacked down stitching. Signs of a machine made hat. The felt is either rabbit or blend. The ribbon being "the Ribbon" should have narrowed it down to the Henry.
Man it looks awsome in those pics, shame the bash shook loose on it's long journey home
After a weeks wear the fit's absolutely perfect thanks John.
I've been teasing the bash back in and think I'm getting closer, might have over cooked the pinch!
What do you reckon?
I think the pinch looks perfect IMHO, but I guess that's more of a preference than anything. Nice reblock by John and the hat looks fantastic! Congrats!
