ToD jacket question

Post by gmarthe »

I was thinking about getting a last crusade jacket but with all the great looking ToD jackets everyone has been posting, I have been wavering. One thing that worries me though is this from the Wested website:

"As several area are glued and not topstitched the heavier skin are not usable at this time."

Glued? I am not a jacket connoseur but how does that work in the long run? Anyone have a "glued" jacket that has been roughed up? How is it holding up? I was thinking about going goat for durability so the glue thing makes me think twice about this jacket.

Well, Wested started selling them (the 'copied from NH' TOD) back in late 2008, early 2009. That's over two years that some people have had them.
I'd be curious too, to hear how they've held up, especially the glued sections.

Even curiouser is that they offer the ToD in pre-distressed cowhide. Is that not considered heavy skin?

The glued part they appeared to concerned about was the jacket hem. They seem to prefer to topstich it. Though the ToD and actually the LC and CS screen jackets were not topstitched.

I know, it just seems a preference of theirs.

I've washed mine 3 times now, still seems ok.

So the Raiders jacket is the only one that's topstitched?
