I just received my first Wested, which I choose for my Temple of Doom jacket, and I could'nt be more happy!
The leather is predistressed cowhide, very hard. I love this jacket and it's more beautiful that I ever imagined. I love every detail of it, and probably I'm not going to distress it, but let it age naturally.
I promise in the future to post some better picture, some ToD inspired shot.
That jacket looks perfect on you!
I have some samples of the worn look hide from Wested and the stuff scuffs up real easy.
No need for artificial distressing. It'll look old and beat up just from everyday wear (like a ToD should!)
Thanks to everyone! I'm happy you like the jacket!
Yes, now I'll going to wear it and break it naturally, I'll not distress it.. I like it just as it is..
Great jacket. Now get those sleeves wet and push them all the way up until they dry. A temple jacket is no temple jacket without completlely unnatural arm wrinkles.
I can't see the image, even steerpike's avatar too...there's this frog and "Domain unregistered: To viewregister at:bit.ly/imageshack-domain".
What to do guys?

Same here!
I've been wanting one of Peter's ToD jackets for a while now, and this just about pushed me over the edge! (Oh, well. At least I know where NEXT years tax return will be going! )
Steerpike, I'd also love to see some pics of the back!
Or.....perhaps they're correct in relation to the hem, but the overall back length is shorter than the original? What is the back length out of interest?
I think your right on the latter. I think he had this jacket made with a perosnal back lenght and not with standard backlength. original tofd back lenght is 26''
Holt stated that Peter could use the same leather used on the Wolverine Origins jacket (dark predistressed cow)...is this the leather that Holt spoke of?
Just one thing about the back lenght: I used a different personal specs, just because my height is 5.60, so it's very different from Harrison's, so I thought that was the correct movie 'proportion' adapted on me. Am I wrong about this?
Not at all. It has to fit you after all.
It's just that when you deviate from the originals size or pattern to any degree,
It will obviously look less like the screen jacket.
A good example of this is the TOD jacket in the larger sizes.
The small pockets start to look a little silly on a great big jacket!
The TOD was fairly long and slim, so the straps looked quite low.
Shorten the back length, and of course they'll look higher.
Doesn't change the fact that this is one great jacket, one of the best TODs I've seen.
another thing caught my eye. why does the straps point forward? they should go backward thru a double pronged tri-glide. what kind of sliders does the jacket have? looks like two piece rectangular buckles.

Might still be the prongs. On mine, the straps are going backwards but the prongs themselves kind of dig into them and push them back forward. As the leather is relaxing, though, they're starting to point more toward the back than they were at first.
Wested are all out of Pronged buckles, I had to source my own for my current order.
I get the impression it'll be black rectangular sliders as standard on ToD's from now on.
Steerpike, your jacket looks fantastic on you, fit looks perfect and it really has a ToD feel to it...
Could I ask what leather you requested? Is it just predistressed cow or a darker version? I'm about to order a Wested LC and think that leather would look great.
Thank you, I appreciate it and congrats on a fine jacket!
oh, hard is not the right word: I mean is thick, and stiff, but I'm shure thta with the use it will break. just after a week of use it's getting better..

I have a Wested in the same leather (only a lighter color), been wearing it for about a little bit more than a year now. I've worn it almost every day and it broke in very nicely. It also lost most of it's stiffness and has become very soft now.
Anyway, the jacket looks fantastic on you and I think you will enjoy it for many years .
Really great looking jacket you have there, Pike! I love the Temple of Doom jacket, and I think yours came out pretty dang nice looking. Love that leather - what a great texture it has!
Steerpike, all you still need thread the strap through the back part of the buckle, the straps on the ToD are supposed to point towards your spine. However, don't pierce the outer strap!
great looking jacket-those buckle prongs look abit vicious, look like they might catch on seat upholstery when sitting down ,probably best to do as suggested and feed the staps back over them.
