All I want for Christmas . . .
. . . are my whip orders, which are in "any day now" status from Bernardo, Graeme, and a non-member whip maker named Mike Brower.
So, let's sit back and see who plays Santa this year. I really don't want these orders to turn into Valentines'.

Maybe you could post pictures and a video or two when you get them?

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
I appreciate the congratulations, Noah, but I think they are premature at this point. Waiting for an order is always hard, but waiting for three at the same time, orders that I assumed all would have come through months ago, is very frustrating; Mike Brower's being the most difficult because I've never done business with him before and I don't know what to make of the reasons he's giving me for delay. I can wait with patience for Bernardo and Graeme; I know they will come through no matter what. I'm borderline looking to get my money back from Mike.Noah wrote:Congratulations!

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
Thankfully, I'm not waiting on any other orders for any other kind of gear. And this is the beginning of a new rule for me: I will not order anything until the thing I'm already waiting on arrives first. Thus, though I would like to place an order with Penman right now for a new non-Indy hat, even though John won't ask me to make payment right away and I know it won't arrive for five or six months, I'm not even placing the order until all my whips arrive. And once I place my hat order, I'm not ordering anything else until that arrives, etc._ wrote:LMAO! For me it is a butt-load of jacket orders. Two new ones from Bates that are "any day now" status for the last week, and my Milos Basara X3 recut which should arrive either Christmas eve or the Monday after. Sheesh! The anticipation is excruciating!!!!

Daren,
I know how you feel.
I am still patiently awaiting my order from Graeme.
But, I still check my inbox everyday, just hoping to receive that message (and I always let out a little sigh when it's not there. )
Just out of curiosity, how long ago did you place your orders?

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
Graeme's order was placed around April, and I know he's pretty much finished. I also know that he was out of commission for a while, so no worries there. Bernardo's was around June I think, and I know that's he's pretty much finished. Mike Brower's was ordered at the beginning of July, and I won't even explain about that until I either get my whips, or my money back from him . . .kwad wrote:Daren,

Hi DarenHenryW,
More or less are in the same situation.
I'm just waiting for some whips, for many months.
A Young Indy Nolan, has already shipped and may arrive later this year.
Del Carpio two whips, a Young Indy (I know it is over) and an Ultimate Raiders, but unfortunately Bernardo does not answer my mail for over a month, I'm worried...
Also a whip by Benjamin Scott, for over a year are expected from him ..
I have a lot of whips and some have made me wait a few months, but never like this. More and more eagerly that the aspects that are slow to arrive..

Hmmm , my order was placed in March.
As far as I know, he hasn't even started on mine yet.
Sorry to hear about your problem with Brower.
I hope it pans out for you. I've been really anticipating seeing that whip (probably not as much as you though!)

But there are two others, and apparently one of them ran into some trouble before being finished.
Anyway, if you're reading this Bernardo or Graeme, don't take it the wrong way. I'm just home, sick, it's Christmas break, and I've got nothing better to do than write empty posts. I really appreciate the work you guys do, and I know that you offer fantastic products for a small amount of money. For the "functional art" that you guys create, I know that you are underpaid, but please understand that you are much appreciated for helping all of us gearheads make our dreams come true!
Please, never hurry on my account. And for all those who read this, if you are similarly waiting for whips from these gentlemen, or any others around this little globe of ours, let me just say that we all owe our whipmakers big thank you's!
I hope that doesn't come across as sarcastic, because it isn't. I mean it. You guys are tops. Keep up the good work.
And keep it coming for years and years!

I wonder if yours is just a holdover from Graeme's hiatus?
I'm expecting mine, ordered at the end of September, to arrive end of January/ beginning of February. Though I haven't heard from him in awhile to see if he's still on track.
Eagerly looking forward to it, though. Your review of the 6fter you got from Graeme convinced me he was the way to go.

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
Daren,
If yours was ordered in March, that is good news as mine should be coming up soon.
Baptiste,
Yes, my order was placed shortly after he lowered his prices and just before Graeme had his accident. I really can't blame him for taking so long as he was layed up for several months while the orders stacked up.
However, the wait is killing me! I've heard so many good things about his whips and I'm very excited to be getting one!

Yeah, Allen, you know you're absolutely right; if my whips came today, I wouldn't even be able to take them outside. The forecast around here is rain for the next six days straight. I have no reason to whine!
But it would still be nice to hold them in my hands . . .
Soon enough!

I hear ya buddy, I have been trying to do simple break in techniques in the house, so far it has worked well, you know how Terry's stuff is. Hope the weather clears up there soon as well. Atleast my dual hybrids from MidWest will not enter production until about 3 months from now. Hoping for the great spring weather to kick in around then.

As I posted elsewhere, it's worth noting that there have been some SERIOUS postal delays over the last month or so. I had one airmail package take 6 weeks from the UK to US. One package from Aus to UK five weeks (usually takes a week). AuspPost told me that increased security checks on postal packages into US, UK and much of Europe was adding up to ten days to postage times from Australia. Add to that several major European airports shutting down due to very harsh weather and there are some big delays about

Thanks for posting this; it indeed makes me a little more patient. Graeme told that he shipped my whips from England two Fridays ago. I guess that means it could take up to another month to get them if things are really this slow.

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
Guys,
This does not surprise me, back in November of last year when I got the email from Terry that he was sending my whip and it should be arriving in a little over a week, it ended up going 2 1/2 weeks before I got it due to it being held up in customs. They are really slow these days due to the security measures they have to abide by. Hope you get yours sooner than that buddy!

Luckily mine hasn't shipped yet, and doesn't for a few more weeks. I guess in the future, it'd be best to ask for tracking in advance.

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
This is exactly what I hate about outside the US shipping. Even if you get the tracking number, there is that period of time where the package just "disappears" and you have to wait until it passes through customs and finally makes it to your door. When dealing with Aussie post to USA, it never updated until a week later after I got my whip. Good luck guys, this is just awful having to wait on pins and needles like this....

No tracking number? That is really strange. Graeme gave me one for my last order and everything was OK. I thought that it would be the norm, especially for international shipments. I would get on the blower and start kindly requesting tracking numbers!

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
All of the whipmakers that I have dealt with, from Bernardo to Joe Strain, have always shipped my whips out via airmail. These are international shipments to Europe. It simply makes more sense to use airmail rather than surface or maritime shipping, simply because whips are small-medium sized items are not really expensive to ship via air mail. If you are talking about lets say, furniture from the US to Europe or a motorcycle or any other large item(s), there it would make sense to use maritime or surface shipping, because airmail would be terribly expensive. I hope you hear from your whips soon Daren!

Daren, I am so sorry to hear about this.
They really should be giving you the tracking number for this (a long story, I know).
I don't think that it would take up to a month for something to be delivered from the UK to the US, but saying that, a few weeks ago, we were hit with very bad storms over here, which might have something to do with it.
I really hope that they turn up soon.

I agree Bravo, you're 100% correct, but in my case, I was not asked what shipping option I choose, the online shop dealer himself or herself decided that it would be better to ship it via ship , I qouted them what's the total price of my order, paid and I'm still waiting. My previous orders were succesful. I don't give up waiting, some day I'll get it.
Darren, don't worry, you'll crack them soon, I keep my fingers crossed

Graeme says a tracking number would be fine and that it's his usual practice anyway.
I didn't mention you, Daren, but considering he says he always sends tracking numbers, perhaps double-check your inbox? Might you have overlooked it?

Re: All I want for Christmas . . .
Ok I have figured out a cure for the waiting game. Oreder more stuff that will be here quicker. I have already recieved my copy of
Mastering the Bullwhip by Anthony De Longis and will have a 10 ft burgundy bullwhip from that auction site by the end of the week.
I already have a whip from that seller so I know the quality is as good as anything I presently own, though I hope it will be
eclipsed by Bernardos whip which is yet to come.

Don't know where Graeme's whips are, but I assume they are in transit
Bernardo hasn't finished my whips, so obviously they haven't even shipped.
Mike said two weeks ago that he would ship my order last Monday, but then yesterday texted me to confirm my address. And don't forget that I ordered and paid in July and he told me five weeks. Granted I told him that I was in no hurry and to take his time. Whoops . . .
You see why I'm so frustrated?
