For Christmas I bought my Dad his own Fed IV after he kept trying to steal mine. Before giving it to him, I sent it to John Penman to bash in the LC style. Here is a pic of my Dad proudly wearing it, along with a pic of him and me with our hats and the new union suits we got for Christmas.
He's not winking. His eye is dead and eyepatches aren't his thing.

Gotta respect the union suit. Makes trips to the outhouse much more pleasant.

Hopefully they came with 'drop bottoms'....otherwise, you're in for a ugly surprise first trip out there.
BRAVO on the new hat for Dad! Looks great!!
HIGH regards! Michaelson

Of course they have the drop bottom. However, it isn't the 2 button flap anymore. They are now a 1 button flap, and the flap goes sideways.

Good.
They actually make them WITHOUT that important opening, believe it or not, and many folks have discovered this at extremely ackward times.
....and no, I am not one of them....but I know a couple guys who did.

No, but you're getting the idea.
Anyway, the hat suits your Dad's face shape perfectly! I'm sure he'll get GOOD use out of it....and you peace of mind getting YOUR hats back.

Looks good. I just might get one. I've been himhawing about getting a Regular since I need a grey hat. But since they don't make the Moonstone in a 62 (!!!!! yes my mellon is THAT huge) Deluxe, I'll have to take a Regular. This thread of yours just about closes the deal for me. Thanks for sharing!

Glad I could help. It is a solid hat for the price. It's not a Penman or an Adventurebilt, but it's 1000x better than a Dorfman Pacific, and you can really beat on it without worrying about ruining it.

My union suits have a large vertical slot in the back. Id prefer the drop-bottom. Great looking hats, maboot.
