WINGS Antique Cow Legend US Made vs Imported Lamb Legend

Post by RayROnline »

I am in love. My U.S. made Antique Cow Legend came in today. I will give you a quick look at how it compares with the Imported Lamb. First impressions out of the box. Its lighter weight (about 1lb. I think). It is a trimmer fit, like it was tailored for me. The shoulders are perfect, no overhang. The sleeves are ever so slightly shorter. The zipper is darkened rather than shinny brass color (otherwise seems identical. The collar...see for yourself. The straps = different stich, slightly different size. The buckel is more square on the cow. The cow is not shinny and looks more "used". The cow is slightly lighter in color. The cow is also not quite as warm. It drapes great. Looks trim...definately a slightly slimmer fit. See for yourself: (for continuity the import lamb is the darker one always on the left)

And one with the gray Adventurebilt Steve Delk fedora: (too much flash here washing out some color)

The shape of the front pockets is slightly rounder but they actually measure the same! This is exactly what I was looking for. More of a jacket feel, which really surprised me.
Much thanks to Weston, without whose advice I would have probably been unable to determin which version was right for me. Fine work WINGS =)

From what I heard today, they have 125 of these in stock, if anyone is interested.

After Christmas I...may...be tempted to get my photographer enlisted again to show the fit and color better. This is the best I can do for now, but it gives a lot of detail. Especially if you have seen the pic's of me wearing the lamb from the other thread I did today ;)

I've got the cow version. It's hard to photograph, isn't it? There is a lot of grain and character on mine. The pictures of yours make it look like a washed goat, which is pretty far from what it really looks like in real life. I'm not knocking your photos, just singing the praises of the leather. That lamb has a ncie finish, though. I wonder how it'll fade or distress over time. My cow looks like it could distress nicely and pick up a great patina over time.

You're right, totally wrong light to get the true color. The cow is much softer and more pliable than I expected, yet very rugged feeling. I know some of the screen caps show a glossy finish like the lamb, but I personally like the look of the duller finish on the cow. Just my taste, of course. I think it may get darker with age.

As for the lamb, mine is already showing color fading around the ends of the sleeves and edges at the bottom. There was a little red sticker stuck to it on the back near the bottom. When I pulled it off, off came the dark brown. Interesting. I know it will blend in with time.

I'd love to see some pic's of yours!

Thanks for showing it off Ray! I think your description of the leather is spot on. I look forward to seeing more folks recieving theirs, I think Scot2525 has one coming. I really want to see what this one looks like after some weather and wear.
