The Loop

Post by DoubleOhSeven »

A friend of mine took this photo at our Halloween party this past weekend. I had always heard people talking on the forum here about the "loop" or the "curl", and never really understood what they meant until I saw this photo. By no means am I anything close to proficient in the art of whip cracking, but since I was all dressed up as Indy for the party, someone kept on and on about seeing the whip crack I just had to show them that it could be done. They were really awed about how loud it is.

That is an awesome picture!

One of the things I absolutely love about whips is how they almost feel like a living creature, long and supple like a snake, and they have their own particular way of movement. Every whip moves a little differently.

It must be quite hard to capture a picture of a whip in motion, as they move so fast...

Very cool pic!
I love performing the forward flick and watching how the whip moves and eventually cracks. I'll simply do the flick over and over just mesmerized by it.

I'm particularly fond of the coachman's crack just because I think it sounds really neat, and different from most of the other cracks.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Been a busy few weeks.

The jacket is a US Wings Antique Cowhide Hero jacket.
