My Wested Distressed LC Two years later….

Hello all! Its getting close to Halloween and I’m getting my costume ready. I thought that I would share my jacket after I took a bottle of 100% Acetone

and sandpaper to it. Now it was very hard for me to do this to my jacket! This jacket was my first Indy jacket and I just love it. So, after some elbow grease here is the final result.

What do you all think?

I know what you mean, it´s always hard to do that to a fine looking jacket. But I like your result, makes it look more LC to me.

How long did it take to complete the distressing?

Now THAT is a Last Crusade jacket!

What leather is that and how well did the acetone work.
It barely budged the finish on my "authentic lamb" Raiders. (Just want to do a little highlighting of the seams).

Acetone works really good. To me it's very similar to rubbing alcohol but it's smells worse. It also drys very quick so it takes many applications in short strokes to achieve the desired look. You can't really mess up the jacket just as long as your careful. I would say it took three or more strokes to lighten up the leather.

This jacket was made with "Distressed Cow" in which case I believe Wested calls it "Novapelle" now. Remember I bought this two years ago. Thanks again I like my jacket even more now my wife calls it my "dirty looking jacket".

One more thing. I distressed the front and back panels as well as the sleeves with sandpaper and Acetone. I didn't use sandpaper on the seams I did at first but doing this just ruins them

instead of making them look distressed. The whole jacket was rubbed with Acetone.

Well, if you're looking for a costume jacket then mission accomplished. I think your jacket looked a lot better before you took the acetone and sandpaper to it. There's definitely divided camps between natural and artificial distressing. Guess which one I'm in?

I'm with you. All I can see is what happens when sandpaper is applied to leather. However, that's all I see when I see the fake distressing on the screen in Last Crusade, so I reckon it's a pretty good reproduction. It's just a pity Wested's pockets are such a poor comparison to the LC film jacket's pockets. Why can't they get it right?

I love the distressed look on these jackets - adds a lot of character. Looks like you nailed a pretty darn good LC look.
