Their jackets have 4 inches of room in chest, so if you order 44 size, the chest will measure 48 inches and I think that is enough to wear a jumper under jacket in winter.

Just to confuse matters; I measure 48 snug, bought a 50 and it fits perfectly. :-k

Or also to confuse matters, I have a 41-42" chest and a 44 was too tight when zipped.

To unconfuse things; Wested sizing may vary. Measure at your own risk, and do a bit of this: [-o<

I have a size 50 chest and have had several Westeds. Fit was never a problem but CJ is completely correct that a little [-o< won't hurt! ;)

I´m joining the growing confusion.
I have a 44" chest and a 46 LC fits a bit snug zipped completely up. While a 48 is absolutely comfortable for me that way. But again, that´s a personal preference, as I like to layer up and wear the jacket during the colder months as well.
Your shoulder width may also matter a little bit.

I would try to talk (phone is best or via email if the phone isn't practical) to Peter directly. He would be able to give you the best advice.

Wested jackets are supposed to have 4 inches of wiggle room built into the chest. My two Westeds do. When ordering a size 44 jacket, for instance, you can specify in the special request box that you would like the jacket to measure 24 inches pit-to-pit. While this shouldn't be necessary, it may make you feel better while you wait for your jacket!
