wow thats great distressing. Im guessing magnoli dyes his accordingly so you can distress it with the right colorations.
Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Very good job on the distressing! And I agree that we need more Magnoli jackets around here. Everything I've seen has looked fantastic.

Holt,
Outstanding job on the distressing!
Just enough to capture the LC look without being overly done.
By far my favorite to date.

Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Looks great Holt, how'd you do it? Or people can send you their jackets for a fee for you to do it? Could be some extra work on the side for you.
Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Look at those pockets!!! I think Mags makes the best LC's I have seen. But why did ya have to go scratch it up so much?
Holt, what is the front length, from the base of the collar to the bottom hem?

Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
thanx my friends.
I used sandpaper, water treatment and a litte pecards to blend out the aging.
most magnoli jacket owners will agree that the lamsbkin is extremly soft and buttery but after giving it a ''make over'' it really toughens up the leather up.

Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Outstanding!
I, myself, am only weeks away from ordering my own LC jacket from Magnoli, and plan on distressing it as such. Question: Is this the Dark Brown or Medium Brown and which option do you recommend for the most SA colour - especially in terms of achieving the brick-coloured undertones when sanding/distressing?

Great job Holt!!! What about the pockets though? Shouldn't they be a little more scalloped?

general impresson?
its just lamsbkin so I would expect it to hold up like lamb. it aint thick. more on the thin side. thicker then todd's but slightly thinner then authenic lambskin from wested. the construction is 1 class. you wll see it when you get the X jacket.

hehe. you noticed this was one thing I really looked forwad to replicate. its just a small mark but it stands out in a way. with this it really gives the jacket more LC magic.Tremolo wrote:What a great looking jacket Holt!

I just updated the first post.
I finally found that bottle with redish ''brick'' colored dye I had been looking for since yesterday. I took a cloth with some dye and gentle went over the seams with it. NOW this jacket is LC perfection.

So Holt, I'm guessing this means you've been taken out of Michaelson's will, now that you've crossed over to the 'dark side ' of the distressing arts......
Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
lol.
reason for this distressing is becasue this jacket is allready destroyed.
it has a huge gash in the leather that I glued shut.

Well, please give us a heads up if/when it happens so we can watch. so, after reacting to Holt's jacket ..
then the next question is - how does a smart-alec, 20 year veteran private eye from Canada get to be an on-set consultant??

Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Is it just me or does the brass snap on the lower part of the jacket looks really odd?
The snaps should be brown anyway. There's also a huge gap on the back of the jacket on each side.
Was this requested or is this the Magnoli cut?
Good jacket but I've seen better LCs.

wow. talk about being a nitpick.
FYI, the light in the bathroom is reflected in the brass snap.
and the gap, yes there is a gap, but it aint huge!

I have to agree… sometimes this so-called need for a 'perfect' prop replica can result in the fun being taken right out of what should be a fun hobby…Indiana Holt wrote:wow. talk about being a nitpick.

That said, I think this is a simply jaw-dropping interpretation. My congratulations mate and my thanks to you for sharing.

Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
I think maybe some others are interested to know that some Companies aren't that exactly when it's about SA.
This jacket isn't just a bargain. They pricey. But hey no hard feelings it's still a nice jacket!
The owner must like it! That's what matters in the end.

That is some stunning work Holt! As you know, I don't distress my jackets, but if I ever did decide to go that route, I'd be bugging you for tips every step of the way. It even fits like an LC jacket should! In a way, the distressing reminds me of ToD, perhaps even more than LC, as it looks like you paid more attention to the panels of the jacket as opposed to the seems. Hey, thats just me. Incredible jacket!

Holt, I really like your work! Ship it to me right away!
The first photo on Mag's website looks spot on LC. Which option did you choose?
Re: Last Crusade jacket by Magnoli
Thanks. I cant remember exactly... I think when I ordered a jacket I just sent Tony an email (we are good friends) saying I want an LC. he knows what I want and he took it from there. never selected an option when ordering jackets nor shirts. Just emails..
I believe he selects them with A,B,C and D.. so, LC should be style C as the LC movie is number 3 in the row.
